We had high hopes for Olives but ended up feeling disappointed. We had a reservation and were seated quickly; however, the tables are very close together, making it awkward to move around, especially to sit on the booth side. Additionally, we could hear the conversations at neighboring tables, making us wary of having our conversations due to the lack of privacy caused by the minimal space between them.
My husband ordered the fish of the day, while my mom and I chose the Chicken Artemis. We started with the rosemary bread, which was absolutely the highlight of the meal—delicious and flavorful (and the sole reason for two stars). Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was less satisfying. The Chicken Artemis was brought out first, and we were told the fish would arrive soon. The dish itself was very inconsistent; it had solid pieces of white meat that were dry and lacked seasoning on one end, a glob of plain cream cheese in the middle, and some chicken mixed with cream cheese on the other side. The pesto and artichoke hearts were evenly arranged along the phyllo. I never tasted any goat cheese, and overall, I found the dish unenjoyable and left over half of it on the plate. My mom's dish was exactly the same, unfortunately.
As a staff member checked on drink refills, my husband asked about his meal, but she was unaware of the delay, which was understandable since she was managing the host stand and pastry counter. The woman who delivered the other meals then went into the kitchen and stood over the cook as he prepared the fish. It took about 10 minutes for my husband's fish to arrive after our meals were served at the table, and by then, we had already finished our meals. Once the fish finally arrived, it was just okay, nothing special, especially considering the inconvenience of the wait.
As someone anaphylactic to shellfish, eating on the Outer Banks is difficult. I was hopeful that this could be another restaurant in our rotation when we visit each year. Overall, the service and food quality were disappointing, and we won't be...
Read moreWe came on the last day of vacation at peak time- around 1. The service was a bit slow but I don’t think our waitress stopped for a moment to even catch her breath- the place is tiny but SO busy. Even though it was a bit slow (perhaps not enough staff that day), our waitress was wonderful and quick to bring everything from our drinks, water for our pups outside and more napkins. I hope that those who read about the service plan accordingly and still visit this place!
We got the Mezede platter to start and wow! My husband and I both love Green food and this was SO good! So many lovely tastes and vegetarian for my hubby. We were basically full from this and even thought we could have just gotten small salads to go with it but we’d already ordered.
I got the chicken gyro and my husband got the falafel. We have some awesome Greek and Mediterranean spots near us, but we will be talking about the food for awhile! Definitely the best Greek food we’ve ever had. It was a lot of food and I had leftovers for the next day.
We had non alcoholic drinks, appetizer and mains and spent $62 which included a 20% tip. I think that was very reasonable considering the amount of food we ordered.
Overall, wonderful spot and excellent food with friendly staff. Please tip your waitresses! They work hard and it’s not their fault if the restaurant is a bit...
Read moreTL;DR WONDERFUL food, Alan (Allen?) was a savvy and charismatic server. Worth what we paid! GIVE THE CHIP DIP A TRY
My wife and I went Tuesday May 4th for lunch. Our waiter Alan was incredibly friendly and charismatic off the bat, and helped us out as we ordered. Mine was a simple order -- a classic Gyro -- but my wife can't have Gluten or Dairy. Alan worked with her to quickly point out great options for her, and any dietary information he didn't know off the top of his head he quickly found out with confidence so we could keep talking about the order. She ordered a classic gyro on rice (no tzatziki or pita), and after ordering Alan realized 2 things to change about the order. First, he found out the gyro meat had gluten and quickly suggested the falafel which she was fine with. Second, he thought the gyro sans tzatziki would be dry and suggested to us throwing some hummus on there, which she really appreciated. She was INCREDIBLY happy with her dish, with a ton of flavor. Keep in mind without the pita, her portion was relatively smaller for the price but she didn't mind. My gyro was fantastic, and I loved the chip dip enough to buy several containers to go. This would almost certainly become our weekly date spot if...
