Update!! Jan 13, 2019. It looks like they may have corrected the issue with the outdoor fireplace not being on at night for skaters in the cold. So I will change my initial review of two stars to five stars as the outdoor fireplace is on now for people to enjoy. FYI it's 6:45 PM and it's on as it should be. Thanks Maple Grove for a nice place to enjoy. Keep up the good work...😊
Well over the last few times I have been at the Central Park skate area they have not had the fire pit outside going. When asked why they didn't have it going or On I get excuse after excuse. Like it's to late in the day when it's only 6:00 P.M. or it's to late in the evening like it's 7:00 P.M. and it will take to long to cool down when it's only 15 degrees outside or I don't know how to turn it on. Well I would like to know who is in charge of turning on and off the fire outside and would like to know when it is going to be on or off. I am a tax payer and not having it on when it is cold out in Minnesota is rediculous. If you need more money to light the thing let me know as I am sure it costs less than $30 an evening to run. You guys charge $6.00 for skate tental but can't find the time to keep people warm. What a fail. So what's the excuse? FYI I live next to Central Park and know when the fire is on or off. Again Central Park what's the excuse. Sad...
Read moreThe skating loop is a very cool idea and the building is beautiful. The biggest downfall would be the people who go there just to mess around or the people who go there who don't know how to skate. The skating loop isn't very wide so when there are people going slow or who fall in the middle of it, it's hard for the people who want to go fast to get around them. I would not advise anyone who is learning how to skate to come here and I would especially not advise bringing small children. It is dangerous when small children fall because it is not as easy to see them. The only other downfall was the zamboni, the kid who did it took a lot longer than needed and he did a horrible job clearing the ice. My boyfriend and I wanted to go skating tonight but we chose to go to a rink in st.paul which is a long drive for us compared to a much shorter drive to maple grove. We would have chosen to go to the maple grove loop if there weren't so many inexperienced skaters and screaming teenagers there. If I were to describe the loop in one word it would be chaos which is sad because the loop would be perfect if it weren't for some of the...
Read moreMe and and girlfriend got too this park at 5:30, we were very excited to go ice skating. We got in the line to rent are ice skates, there seemed to be about 70 people in line when we got there. It took us about a hour to get to the front and just as we got there the people working announced they had no more skates to give out, when we finally got to the front desk my girlfriend politely asked if they had any of her size in the hockey skates assuming they had meant they were out of the figure skates because we clearly saw there was plenty more hockey skates. The people running the front desk looked at her like she had three eyes and were completely rude about the whole thing, we completely wasted our time, and I do get it. It was very busy, must’ve been 150 people in line before we left. But if I took anything out of the whole situation there should be time limits on how long you can skate to make sure everyone has...
