Read moreAlthough I knew Avery Art Gallery had done restoration for the Philadelphia Museum of Art and other highly esteemed galleries nationally, My mother’s oil portrait was done approximately 1955. Having bleached out badly, her face looked white, the red velvet dress was pink. The background was a muted multi-color and had literally flaked off to a large degree. Avery saved every flake the day I went in. I had little hope of a realistic restoration after all the time that had elapsed (69yrs). The end result was absolutely astonishing. The portrait brought me to tears after completion. It was perfect in every way! I had two intricate frames cleaned as well. Such talent, attention to detail and pride in workmanship is hard to come by these days.
