Just got back from taking my son to this tournament. The tournament itself was awesome, the players did not disappoint. The inside of this tennis complex is very pretty. But whoever owns this is making more money than the NFL owners. The price for tickets (non-refundable mind you...even for rain) was 1100 dollars, and that was for general admission. They changed the rules this year and now if you don't buy the sections by the court, you are not allowed to get autographs (in center court). Kids are left standing outside the roped areas watching the rich kids getting autographs. How pathetic is this place. The food....well if you have 11 dollars you can get a taco the size of a silver dollar! If you want a standard meal expect around 20-30 dollars at best. Sodas...6-8 dollars. I don't drink beer but some guy said his can cost 14 bucks! I mean.... really! Ice cups were 5 dollars. They say you can come in with a bottle of water with no label....but if you are there most of the day in August.....guess what you are going to run out of fast.... you guessed it....water. My advice is buy the 5 dollar ice and don't lose your cup. The staff is up in the air. Half were friendly and half were miserable know it alls. If you have any complaint, they always send you to the concierge or the hospitality building (where you can't go in without a special expensive ticket), why send me there if the people in front of the building are just going to send me to concierge. The worst part of this experience is the parking. Getting out is a miserable experience. I've sat in long lines before, but this is a train wreck. Picture trying to get out of an AC/DC concert in the 80's but everyone is in cow pastures....and you got it. There is not enough room around the music stage to sit everyone that needs to eat lunch or dinner. So be prepared to stand unless you ask to sit with a stranger. If you like tennis, it's an experience for sure. But you might want to try a...
Read moreThe tennis facility in Mason Ohio is awesome - from when you first enter, and are directed to carefully laid out parking options, including a section for handicapped, where golf cart shuttles go back and forth for your ease of getting around. The skilled and cordial drivers remind you to note the row number where you're parked, and run through a helpful checklist - do you have your keys, tickets, cell phone, etc., before you set off. Midwestern hospitality at its best meets you everywhere on the grounds, which are beautifully planted, and well maintained. There are food stands, little demos to try, information and merch booths, places to sit and relax. Inside the stadiums you will find clean, spacious, comfortable seating, two large monitors, and a polite, enthusiastic crowd of fans. What was so impressive was the army of staff and devoted volunteers who are so welcoming and helpful. Everywhere you look you will see a friendly face eager to help. My husband has a disability and they were so kind and helpful making sure we were accommodated and comfortable. When we returned the second day they recognized us and welcomed us like...
Read moreTruly a world-class venue for getting completely immersed in the tennis experience on all levels. The two main arenas for prime-time matches have great sight lines from every seat in the house and keep you close enough to the action to really be a part of the struggle happening on main court. Medium sized arenas also offer a similar experience for less high-profile matches. The dozen smaller side courts are what really make this venue special though, as they allow you to get up close and personal with some of tennis's biggest stars as they practice or warm-up. You'll want to make a day of it and meander between matches on all of the different courts, which makes this event different than almost any other type of sporting event.
Outside of the tennis, there's a really family-friendly atmosphere throughout the event. A wide selection of reasonably priced food and beverages makes it easy to stay the whole day, but make sure to bring protection from the sun and use the shade to...
