We did a few days at Great Wolf Lodge and decided to eat here one night. That absolute worst mistake we made. This was just a terrible experience! If I could give ZERO or negative stars I would. We stood at the entrance at 6pm for 10 minutes waiting for a hostess to seat us, there were only 3 tables with customers at them. Servers and kitchen help were looking at the line but made no effort to help. After we were seated it was another 7 minutes until the server showed up to take our drink order, we had our order ready only because we found our own menu. We were seated next to the bar with two small children and it still took 10 minutes to get our drinks, at this time there is still only about 4 tables being waited on. And I know my wait times are correct because the door to the kitchen was left open and we could see a digital clock. Waitress was rude, short and pretty unfriendly to be working at a restaurant. Offered no help, no suggestions and acted rushed concerning we were her only table. We order meals and still no drinks. Once drinks come my youngest childs meal was delivered. How do you bring one meal! I ordered ribs with mac and cheese, wife orders ribs and was going to split with our 5 year old. Our youngest gets his meal eaten and then my wife's ribs came out! My ribs were not, but I did get a order of mac and cheese. Asked about my order and the server said that was her mix up, thought I only wanted mac and cheese. She just walked away!! By now my wife and son are halfway through ribs and youngest is restless so I get up and take him out to the hotel lobby where a Halloween party is going on to occupy him. My wife and son are now done, I have went to the room and the order of ribs comes out. My wife has them boxed and gets a bill for $114!!!!!!! She said she wasn't paying for mac and cheese, server said that was fine and returned with the check of $86. To just be done and end the nightmare my wife pays, brings ribs to room where I am and starving to find them cool with cold soggy fries! The next morning on the drive home my wife sees we were charged over $100 for the meal. She calls the hotel and was asked 20 questions to which she can answer because she has restaurant receipt and bank statement on phone. She was told the food and beverage manager would call with a answer after he looks into it, well day TWO and no call. Now that were doing our own looking into it we have found that our server helped herself to a $17 tip!!! Shouldn't this be theft or fraudulent charges??!! As much as I try to be positive and give chances this incident has ruined my waterpark trip. I will not return and I will tell everyone I know this experience. I will use my voice and social media to help others in their decisions.
update!!!! Another day has passed and still no follow up call from...
Read moreA really great option for a staycation with the kids is the Great Wolf Lodge up by Kings Island in Mason. Occasionally sales are run and we were able to stay on a Sunday night when the kids were out of school on Monday, maximizing the savings. The indoor water park was obviously a huge hit with our kids, but we also spent time at the arcade and miniature golf.
When it came time for dinner we headed to the built in Lodge Wood Fired Grill. My wife and I split a couple of items. First was the Mediterranean Hummus with extra virgin olive oil, paprika, feta cheese, and olive tapenade, served with grilled flatbread and vegetables ($9). This was a very generous portion of hummus and the addition of feta cheese was a bonus. Overall a very solid starter.
Our other item was the chopped barbeque chicken salad with greens, fire-roasted corn, green onions, black beans, crisp fried jalapenos, cilantro, pepperjack cheese, barbeque sauce, crisp onion strings, and ranch dressing ($14.50). This was a very large salad and would be a lot for a single person. The ingredients were fresh and the combination of spicy and sweet flavors really worked well.
Our son enjoyed his kids cheeseburger with fries and fruit. And our daughter really liked the spaghetti with giant meatball, veggies, and fruit. Both items were $6 and included a drink.
Overall the Lodge Wood Fired Grill was a great dining option while staying at the Great Wolf Lodges. Their prices were mostly on par with what you would find at comparable restaurants outside of the resort. Our service was fast...
Read moreWe were ready to order from this location because we were staying at the water park, and we were prepared to pay more for the convenience. However, when I went to ask about the menu options, the person at the bar was so rude, only answering my questions with curt one word answers, that I was extremely hesitant to order. I then looked over the menu to find that it was abbreviated. I asked if this was the whole menu because I was aware after looking online that there was much more that they serve, and I was told, " that is the entirety of the menu. " The menu that I was given did not have any wine options, and I asked if they also have takeout for bottles of wine. The answer: yes. I asked what kind of wine they serve, and if he had a menu. He told me there was no menu, which was incorrect because it's online, and he told me they only serve red and white. Considering that I was speaking to the bartender, I expected some knowledge of what was served - looking online, I could see well over 10 different options. We decided not to order food - which is strange because I'm leaving a review about this place and I don't usually do this - I just could not trust that the food would have any more care than the person who I was talking to at the bar. We were very disappointed considering that we were willing to pay exorbitant prices for what seemed like the same food that was served in...
