Death by 1000 paper cuts.
I would strongly recommend staying somewhere else while your in the area. I very rarely leave bad reviews, but this place just irritated the heck out of me.
It started when I walked in and had to wait 15 minutes for someone to greet me at the check in desk. The girl in the back kept answering ringing phones instead of waiting on the two customers that she had in line at the desk. I felt bad that she had no back up, but come one, if you work in the hospitality business you should know what takes priority.
I asked for a clean room and she scoffed and stated that "They're all clean." Okay, sure. I only asked that because every other Super 8 I've stayed was a dirtpile. After a longish check in procedure I got my keys and went to my room on the first floor.
At first glance the room seemed fine, and even had a flat screen TV (color me impressed). However as I walked to the bathroom I knew it was too good to be true. The smell hit me before I actually saw the place. The shower head was covered in what appeared to be black mold, and the floor had condensation and a slippery film on the tile. Gross, but whatever, it was only $60 bucks a night right?
The mattress and bed were fine, and I slept well. The next morning I left for work and came back around 4:30pm. To my surprise I walked in to the room just as I left it. The maid did not come. Strange, maybe they forgot? I called the front desk and asked if maid service was included in the price of the room. They said it was, so I informed them that the maid missed my room today. The girl on the phone rudely stated "so what do you want me to do? Do you need something." I said no and she hung up.
Now, I get that mistakes happen and the maid probably didnt realize my room was on the list. However, not offering a simple apology or attempting to do anything to make it right really annoyed me. I realized that I had used up both of my towels so I went to the front desk to get more. Again I repeated my message that the maid missed my room. The girl at the counter just handed me some towels and said "okay here." No apology, no "I'm sorry for the inconvenience," nothing.
I'm not a princess, I don't need to be pampered or made to feel like I'm right, but I thought it was hotel 101 to apologize when something goes wrong that is explicitly your fault. I don't know, I suppose it doesn't really matter. Maybe she was just having a really rough couple of days. Regardless, an ounce of politeness would've gone a long way during my stay.
All in all there are far better hotels in the area for the price. Do not stay here unless you are a masochist. Also, if you are staying in the area check out the Viva Tequila Mexican restaurant. It's exceptional. The Shell gas station over there is pretty...
Read moreThis is the absolute worst place to stay. The service is the horrible, rooms are dated and just not clean, fridge didn't get cold, tv channels all jumped, and just doing business with them is a nightmare. It really feels like all they are worried about is making things hard for their customers. I booked through the Super 8 website, but they wouldn't honor it. They said it wasn't paid for that way, just held the rental, but my bank statement says otherwise. They just wanted the pet fee in cash instead of paying for it through the website. Then, I wanted to extend my stay, and instead of just rolling the deposit over I had to pay it again; I was then told it could take 14 days to get it back. There were so many various charges on my card from them I'm not sure for what I was paying. Not one charge was in line with prices I was given. I had to use third party sites, like priceline or expedia, bc I have my credit card on my phone instead of the physical card. They do not do tap and pay I guess. They wouldn't allow me to add the pet fee to the room charge either, they wanted cash for it. Then, at 530 every morning the phone would ring and ring, and I'd pick it up and it'd just beep; no one was ever there, and when I'd hang it up and get back in bed, the stupid thing would start ringing again. On my third night, I extended again through hotwire, and at 11am, check out time, I was informed they would not be renting to me again. I assume this is bc I didn't go down to pay the deposit and pet fee myself; I sent my brother down for me (bc I'm 7 months pregnant). I'm not sure why I was getting kicked out, and when I asked, I wasn't given a reason. I also had so many holds and charges on my account that to the bank my account looked empty, yet they wanted me to come up with the pet fee and deposit every morning without releasing the charges. The day before I had to wait a couple extra hours to pay for the next day's pet fee, and I guess that was too much for them to handle. I could not understand anything they would say to me either bc English is not their first language. If you don't like bugs or if you expect things to be clean, this is not the place for you either. Go across the way to the Baymont, they are much nicer and so much more helpful than Super 8. The rooms are much cleaner as well. I'm not much on leaving bad reviews, but this was one I had to do. Don't waste your time or money with them, go spend your money somewhere where your business is appreciated bc at the Super 8 in...
Read moreThis was the scariest place I've ever been to. My boyfriend and I started off driving to Arkansas to New York and we stopped here for the night. After being in the car ALL day- it is now 1am. We entered the building to get a room and we had to have been waiting for at least ten minutes for someone to come to the counter. A guy finally came in from an outside alleyway of the building with no uniform or indication that he worked there. He reeked of pot. He asked if he could help us and obviously we asked for a room. So we left the main building to go outside to get to our room. With all this happening, I didn't mind all too much. Upon entering the room, it smelled really strange, I noticed a couple rips in a chair, and there was a quarter sized dent/puncture in the wall. I convinced myself that because this was a motel and not a high class hotel that this was okay. My boyfriend and I threw our stuff on the bed, and I went into the bathroom. I took one glance into the bath tub to see ants crawling all over inside and around the exterior of the tub. There was also mold. I was then horrified to find a spider crawling around the shower head. I turned right around and told my boyfriend that I could not stay here. He went into the bathroom and was equally as disgusted. Upon looking in the sink a big, black spider that was not there before emerged from the flood drain on the side. I ran out of there and grabbed my tablet and connected to the wifi (here's where the one star comes in- wifi was great!) and checked the reviews. I began to worry about bed bugs and so we considered all of our bags to be contaminated. We left the room and went to the counter again. Another ten minutes for the guy to attend. I asked for a refund and he was like 'yeah ok'. Gave a refund and didn't ask why or ask how he could make the room better. He left before I could ask for plastic bags for our potentially contaminated stuff and we had to wait another 5 minutes for him to come back.
TL;DR pay the extra $50-60 and go to the Hampton or if you're under 21 go to the Comfort Suites. The microtel was...
