On 9/5/2025 around 4:15-4:30 My husband and I visited the gun department, and unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. From the moment we walked up to the counter, the interaction felt off. The associate came across as defensive and short, even when my husband simply asked about a specific firearm. He gave one-word answers and no real detail, so my husband ended up finding what he was looking for on his own.
When my husband asked to see a particular gun, the associate requested his ID, which we understood. I also provided mine since I was handling the firearms too, trying to see which one I would be most comfortable with. After showing me two options, the associate suddenly stopped and asked if this was a straw purchase. My husband asked why he was being questioned like that, especially since we had the same address on our IDs (the associate assumed we didnât have the same address). The associate said âyall donât have the same address is this a straw sale?â Husband showed him again yes we do have the same address so why are we being asked this question. He didnât really have an answer, only saying he âdidnât mean to offend.â
We understand the importance of following firearm sales laws and safety protocols, but the way this situation was handled was unprofessional and uncomfortable. Rather than approaching the matter with tact or explaining why he was asking, the associate seemed to assume the worst about us from the beginning.
This could be a good teaching opportunity for staff. A man, woman, and their children walking in together shouldnât immediately be treated with suspicion. There are better ways to ask sensitive questions without alienating customers or making them...
Read moreDO NOT PURCHASE A BIKE FROM THIS LOCATION. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Recently purchased a bike from this location and was very excited to ride it. When I test rode it I noticed the back tire was a little flat. I asked an employee to come help me and he aired up the tire. Upon returning home I noticed many issues with it, including the brakes being too tight that it makes a squealing noise, a broken rear reflector, and a broken reflector off of the back tire and the seat was already tearing off.
I didnât think much of it and rode it because I thought these were all things that could be replaced.
After riding it down to my local park the back tire went completely flat again, and I had to walk it all the way back home.
I loved the bike but thought âthis is too much to replace I should just return itâ.
Only to find out that I cannot return the bike because the manager at the front told me it was in an âunsellable conditionâ. This is how they sold it to me though? And said she was unsure how it even make it to the register that way. That seems like a problem with the bike builder, nothing to do with myself.
She told me she would review camera footage to make sure it was damaged before and would give me a call back. As if I was lying about it.
Kristy, the store manager, called me back and told me that the bike did in fact have missing reflectors, and that I would have to contact the warranty company since it was in an unsellable condition.
I again asked if it was in an unsellable condition why they sold it to me and why it was on the floor in the first place.
She was not listening to anything I was saying, told me to contact the warranty company and...
Read moreIf you're looking for some general items like workout clothes or shoes you'll probably get lucky and find something. Even camping equipment is pretty available. But look for something like swim (team) gear like goggles that are slightly higher quality than recreational goggles for kids, or swim cap, jammers or competition women's suits GOOD LUCK. Then when you ask an employee if there is possibly another location in the store where more might be displayed, since the apparent "swim section" is so tiny you could easily miss it, you'll get the look of "why are you asking me" mixed with "I don''t care and could care less".
A store this large cannot honestly call itself a sports equipment specialty store when their only excuse for not carrying swim team equipment is that "the summer season has passed". Seriously?? Athletes do not practice or hone their skills seasonally. They practice and work out all times of the year. Not to mention high schools have sports that are, I guess by Academy"s standards, OUT OF SEASON. High school starts swim team when school starts in the fall and it goes throughout the school year on a daily basis. They will and they do need replacement items throughout the school year for this reason.
You might want to take some pointers from the OTHER stores we were able to find a VERY decent section filled with simple necessary items for such a sport. This sort of short-sight would be expected from Walmart or Target or any other business of the sort, but you claim to be something of a sports EVERYTHING store. So come on. Either you are,...
