Overton Square — Attraction in Memphis

Very cool spot in a nice historic district. There's a great array of bars and restaurants. I will only give one key warning: We went here on Sunday to get brunch and check out the music scene. We saw that the places we wanted to visit didn't open until 11am. But we were already awake in our hotel room and ready to go. So we figured that we'd Uber over here (even if we were just a little bit early) and grab some coffee somewhere. Unh-uh. Wrong move. For all the amazing establishments that operate in this plaza, there is NO PLACE that serves coffee, it breakfast, or anything before 10:30am at the earliest. Unless you wanna go sit in the McDonald's for a while, don't show up to this plaza before 11am. We just thought it was a little odd that it was so hard to find someone for a coffee within walking distance before 11am when there are clearly so many other cool establishments that will be open/serving as soon as 11am...

Even though I live near Overton Square, I still choose to drive elsewhere for dining and movie. The square is lovely and always busy for their variety of eclectic restaurants and ice cream shop, burger joints and retail. However when I travel there the lot is often always full and despite the new addition to the parking it seems like an inconvenience to walk down to Boscos or the studio on the square cinema, because of the few yards walk. The experience is great once you’re parked and on the square it’s like a mini getaway from the typical indoor mall type scene and it makes it special because of the selection of restaurants that brings different cultures together. Spanish, Indian, German, Southern cooking, Mexican, etc ... just be patient with the parking if you plan to visit this unique...

5/25/19 - Always a fun place to hang out. Good bars, good food. Live music. Minus one little incident that happened at Boscos. We were a group of 12, and they put us cramped in the corner on the patio. There was an extra table next to us. And there was no one waiting when we came in. So we rearranged the table a little bit to get more space. The wait staff came and told us that we were not allowed to do so. Instead of trying to solve and de-escalate the issue, they made the confrontation worse. And when we said if it's a problem we can leave, they said that it was "fine". We did not want our food spit in, since we have waiters/ waitresses friends that have stories. So we left to go spend our money...
