As usual I don’t give negative reviews unless I feel compelled to speak up for bad experiences. First off I want to give a five star rating for all of the employees that continue to work hard, are super kind, SMILE, and have genuine great hearts! To all of you I appreciate your help over the entire time I have continued to shop there despite the slightly higher prices because supporting great local businesses is vital. The other customers are always friendly and kind. We all chat, help one another with a newly discovered great product. I have always walked out of this store with more hope in my heart for a better tomorrow given all the horrific events around the world. I am also a female veteran who has worked hard all my life with nothing handed to me.
With all of that in mind, I am very sad and also angry tag my first experience with a young man who proclaimed that he owns this store and 4 more stores and he has no clue of how to handle stress, be kind to customers, and I am afraid that he also lacks the skills to treat his women customers, possibly his top notch staff with any amount of respect. Owning stores doesn’t make anyone any better than another. Customer service and kindness when prices are tough for everyone should warrant a certain empathy for your business.
What saved South Point Grocery is the hard working employees that are being their best them and trying to live a happy life they can.
Warning To the young owners treatment towards me today: you should be grateful for your staff because the history I have with them saved your arrogant attitude from losing a great customer and if this becomes a pattern then I will not hesitate to go to the bigger chain stores that already treat customers better. If you don’t understand word of mouth advertising then maybe you should...
Read moreI've been a regular customer over the last 2 years and have always appreciated the nice staff. I've never had a bad experience here until yesterday. A malfunctioning card reader on the register wouldn't acknowledge my card. The cashier told me they'd had similar problems at another register. I pointed out that it seemed like something was wrong with the card reader. I didn't think much of it until I was told the card was rejected for fraud. I had just shown my ID to the cashier to purchase alcohol and my name is on the card so I was confused. I used a different card, also with my name on it, and when it was rejected too I thought maybe I had been compromised and I didn't want to continue. The cashier pressured me to make more attempts until it rejected the second card for fraud. I checked my account quickly on my phone and I had sufficient funds, no fraud alerts. The manager came and I tried to explain that there was something wrong with their card reader, not my cards. He said it was fraud and left. Cashier took back the groceries. I exited the store and called my bank. They confirmed there was no fraud. I went to Cordelia's about 30 mins later and got groceries with one of the same cards, smooth checkout, no issues. I don't understand how there could be problems with the registers, staff is aware of the problem, and still made me feel as if it was my fault. I can understand being confused in the moment, but I didn't even receive so much as a half hearted "sorry about this." I remember when your registers would mistakenly ring up grapes at 3x the actual price, so please don't act as if you've never had technical problems before. I won't be coming back, but y'all should fix this so the next innocent person just trying to get dinner isn't made to feel like a criminal...
Read moreGiven 2 stars because it is located conveniently near. However this the third time I have went to this store in less than 4mos and the produce is horrible, so are the meats and fish. The fish that is sold fresh and wrapped by the store itself, to be the specific the salmon. Purchased and opened it the next day and it smelled so foul I almost gagged. The beets were so soft you could mash it with your fingers, the strawberries are dead and the watermelon when cut open was slimy. There are some other items that are currently expired on the shelves and others look as if the date had been removed and retagged. I will not be purchasing any fresh foods or produce from Southpoint ever again. And it is impossible for the owner or store manager to not be aware of this which baffles my soul. Food is too costly to inconvenience customers this way. Travel to get it and then have to be inconvenienced and return. Spent money to only have to go spend more at Whole Foods which is where I normally go and will do so...
