I placed an order here and let me tell you the food and staff were amazing! I called in and the person on the phone was extremely nice and helpful on things I wanted and also gave me wonderful recommendations. They were really on point from when I called and when I needed by order by.
Upon arrival, everyone greeted me and was really friendly. I had to wait a bit because it was busy but I just sat down at the bar and also had a drink. The person who served me was really nice. My platter was ready so I just finished my drink and paid. I was really excited about my platter I had ordered. Everything looked so good and fresh! It was too pretty to eat!
The sushi was amazing! The quality was fresh and the presentation of it all was excellent. They gave me the perfect amount of wasabi, soy sauce, and ginger as well. Most restaurants skimp you out of those things but I was given more than enough! Chopsticks were also in the bag which is a plus because some places forget these little important items.
I really enjoyed the food and the customer service that everyone gave me. Everywhere is short staffed in general but south main did an amazing job from when I called and picked up my order. I will definitely be returning!
If you are looking for a good sushi spot make sure you go here you don't want to miss out...

The chef who took over this prime South Main Street location is the son of the chef who first brought Benihana's to East Memphis. You know, the restaurant that burned down a couple of years ago.
He has a beautiful wife and adorable little boy and girl. I spoke with him for a minute or two and he was so excited to put his 15 years of restaurant experience into this new sushi spot.
I'm super excited for what's to come.
I attended a party there to celebrate the opening of the restaurant in the old Grawemeyer's.
I tried several different sushi rolls that were quite tasty. The tempura was delish. Had to stop myself - you know, fried food.
My husband kept getting plates and plates of the shrimp fried rice. He absolutely loved it.
I have always loved the layout of this location. It has an open feel to it and looks like the architects put a lot of work into it.
The walls are decorated with tasteful Japanese art.
This is a good casual date place or a spot to meet up and have a cocktail with friends. I'm told they will have lunch specials.
All restaurants take a period of time to get into their groove. I really hope the neighborhood, once void of sushi, will give this...
Read moreMy wife and I, alone with another couple stopped into the South Main Sushi & Grill for dinner 8/31/2018, Our service started off pretty good; but as the night went on, customer service went down hill fast, we had to wait for 45 minutes before our food order was taken, (not to be alarmed, it was a busy Friday night and we were enjoying the atmosphere), My friends, wife and myself had to wait for over an hour for our order, waitress #498 came to our table over 5 times to let us know that our order is on the way, and when our order finally arrived the sushi that came out looked like the chief was in training, rice falling from the rolls, vegetables and meat not placed properly on the rolls (a big disaster), once the manager came to the table," her excuse was it is a busy night" , busy or not, we should have been told the order will take longer than normal,......in a nut shell; waitresses should be properly trained, alone with this so-call-manager, do not recommend this place for no food orders, drinks and water was okay. (its pretty hard to screw up a glass of water, alone with gin and tonic) not to add anymore negativity to the night, each food order came out at different intervals...which was...
