We wanted to love this place because it’s a beautiful building in a great location, but we were very frustrated and disappointed with our experience.||After completing the pre-check in form, we received an email with our room number and access code to the building and our room. We called two days prior to confirm that there wouldn’t be an issue with a late arrival, as we had a full day of driving and would not be arriving until 9pm. Management assured us that would not be a problem as the access code we were given was able to be used 24/7 to access the building and our room. When we arrived we got to the room that was assigned and used the access code to get in, finding the room to be occupied. The guest were not there, but all of their belongings were. We called management and they proceeded to tell us that we had not completed the pre-check in form. We reiterated that we had clearly filled out the form and sent proof of the email we had received granting us access to an occupied room. Finally they gave us yet another form to fill out to grant us access to a different room. We expressed our great concerns for the lack of security and they assured us this would be investigated and chalked it up to a change in management software. Yet later reading reviews, we came across a similar incident where access was granted into an occupied room. So clearly this is not a one off incident, which is completely unacceptable. ||The “new” room we got ended up being the 3 bedroom penthouse, which was a beautiful space, yet shortly after our entering, the neighbours in the space next to us arrived. These rooms are divided with a locked partition wall that can be opened to create one 6 bedroom unit, which has literally no sound proof. We could make out every sound and word that was said next door. Which turned out to be extremely loud later in the night as the neighbours decided to have a party with blaring music, tons of people and dogs barking. Finally at 3am we went next door to ask if they could quiet down, as we had a full day planned and nobody could sleep in our group. After 20 minutes with no change in volume next door, we called management to ask them to talk to them. At about 3:45am the party finally ended. The next day we tried to get back into the building after our full day out and our access code would not work for the main door. Luckily we had the old access code for our original room (that clearly hadn’t been changed for the guests in that room that we had access to), which let us in the main door. Management kept saying the main door access issues were being dealt with, but there are so many reviews for this place complaining of this issue. Also the main hallways wreak of marijuana, so not sure how much of a non-smoking building it is for anyone with sensitivities to that. | |The remote management of this building doesn’t seem to be working for the amount of issues that presented themselves...
Read moreI highly recommend staying at The Rambler if you are in Memphis! The location was great, close to the trolley and walking distance to almost everything we wanted to visit in Memphis. Very close to shopping, restaurants, and many attractions such as Beale Street, The National Civil Rights Museum, The Peabody Hotel, and more! Units/rooms were beautifully decorated, spacious, and clean, and the beds were comfortable. We indicated we would have five guests and they provided extra bedding for the couch/futon (which our 5th guest said was not the most comfortable but still served it’s purpose). FYI our unit did not have a shade/curtain in the living room window so not a ton of privacy for our 5th guest but wasn’t a big deal as we were on the second floor. Shampoo/conditioner/body wash was provided and was great! Awesome bath towels! As others have noted, no dish towels but they did have paper towels. Unit and outside entrance felt secure, building felt safe. Pool was closed but took a peak at it and looks like it would be an awesome, relaxing oasis in the summer! Basement has pool entrance, laundry, and vending.
*I will not take any stars away for this as it is in no way The Rambler’s fault, but I do want to make others aware. There is paid parking across the street. Not sure the price as we did not use it. I assume there are cameras but it is not a covered or secured lot. My sister and I both parked our rental cars on the street (Huling Ave). My husband and I never had any issues, but my sister’s rental car was stolen our first night. I will note they had a Hyundai and it is well known that Hyundai, Infinity, and Kia vehicles are being stolen in HIGH numbers in Memphis right now. If you are traveling with any of those vehicles, just make note and be aware! The Rambler has a camera outside the entrance and they are working with my sister in trying to get some footage for police. *
Again, I HIGHLY recommend The Rambler and if I am ever back in Memphis, they will surely have my business again! Don’t miss out...
Read moreWow... wow... wow! This place checks all of the boxes for me. It was safe and secure with keycodes on the outer doors and the room doors. Our room was like an apartment with a full kitchen which we loved for cooking our own meals. It was spotless and the televisions were huge in the living room and the bedroom. The couch was comfy as was the little chair that made for a perfect seat when the sun came in through the windows. Huge windows by the way!
The hot tub and pool are amazing. They are outside in a very secure little yard that allows you to look up at the sky and just relax. I loved the bathroom as well. It had a great shower and the mirror was phenomenal with lights around it. The whole room was fully stocked with your most basic supplies.
Our remote did die to the living room television but with a simple request via text message they sent someone to fix it within the hour.
There was an issue on our second night with another room alarm going off. We got to meet several fire fighters as they proved to be very responsive and took it seriously even though nothing was on fire. While it was a bit alarming I was honestly set at ease that should something go wrong we would be taken care of. Better to be safe than sorry right?
As some others have said there is a bit of a noise... echo... situation that make louder rooms problematic.
I think they just need to put some acoustic panels up in the rooms to staunch all of the excess noise and that would probably be a huuuge help.
Additionally they are sticklers for not arriving early. We got there about an hour early and had to wait until the agreed upon time. But it did give us and a few other folks a chance to become acquainted while we all waited. Hahaha Was great to meet you Molly!
I would recommend this place hands down and stay here again given the chance. There are ups and downs to all places but way way more ups to...
