I stayed in Memphis over Labor Day weekend and chose the Stallion. When I first arrived inside the apartment, I was stunned at the state of the place. There were cobwebs and spiders in the sitting area. There was dust everywhere, including the air vents, curtains, and the ceiling fan. The kitchen had old food stains on the microwaves, stove, and counter. The sink had remnants of old food inside it as well. All of the walls had various marks/stains. The bedroom blanket looked like it hadn't been washed in forever. The bathroom was dirty, especially the shower curtain liner, which was filthy. The smell of cigarette smoke filled the apartment and hallway, even thought this was supposed to be a nonsmoking facility. The neighbors were also very noisy.
I cleaned what I could with the disinfecting wipes I brought but that wasn't enough. I immediately contacted the owner about my complaints. I really wanted to leave immediately and get a hotel room, but the owner said the first night would not be refunded. My guest and I ended up sleeping on the couch fully clothed and wrapped up in the blankets we, thankfully, brought from home. I couldn't sleep most of the night, and my eyes were so red and irritated from the cigarette smoke and dust. The next morning, we immediately packed and up left. We were gracious enough to take out the trash as requested. We were able to get a hotel room and enjoyed the rest of our trip. If you choose to stay at the Stallion, please be careful because cleanliness doesn't appear to be a priority. This was one of the worst experiences I have heer had on a trip. I will never stay at the...
Read moreGreat place to stay as a couple or a small family. Large space with every conceivable amenity, including consumables, teas, coffee, washing liquids and all necessary kitchen equipment. Even had toothpaste, and lotion. Iron, steam iron, baby chair and playpen. Couple of vinyls (including Elvis’s two LPs set) and the equipment to play it on. My son enjoyed playing an acoustic guitar as well. Very responsive host, easy check in and out and the free basement enclosed garage were great too. A bit farther from Beale str but close to Civil Rights Museum, Amtrak station and Blues Hall of Fame. Mississippi and a shore park are also very close by. Several good dining options and bars. Relatively more quiet and „sleepy” part of downtown. The only thing is the active train tracks are very close outside your windows and there are few early and late trains that come to the Central Station nearby, so they might bother you when you’re trying to rest. It wasn’t a big deal for us though and we...
Read moreThe loft was spacious with a large bedroom separate from the living room and kitchen. We had more than enough room to stretch out, and both the living room and bedroom have televisions.
They provided a rolling folding bed for our 11-year-old who enjoyed sleeping in the living room watching TV. He did say that the nearby train woke him up a couple of times, but we didn't hear it in the bedroom.
The landlord was very prompt answering texts and offering a suggestion for breakfast and sight-seeing. The location is only a few blocks from Beale Street, while the Lorraine Motel and the National Civil Rights Museum are even closer and worth a visit.
Overall, we loved our stay and the easy access and safe underground parking. We would definitely stay here again should we find ourselves in Memphis...
