As far as park and rides go, I figured there are only a few criteria one might measure . Number one, can you get in without much fuss, or out during heavy commuter hours. Answer here is yes , it's Mercer Island and the location is excellent and centralized on major commute routes north end of the island . Number two: safe for my vehicles. I would have to say here the answer is yes, that is pretty personalized and definitely a your mileage may vary situation, and if I had a situation once I would probably change my views rather quickly. So far I am roughly 20 for 20 , not a ton of experience here as I only pop in every month or so bound for downtown. Number three, I've saved the most important for last: do they have sufficient spaces . Here, they lose a star. I think if a person arrives beyond roughly 9 AM M-F , you're out of luck . I have found the occasional spot from say 09:30 to 14:30 during commute days , but then another three or four times completely out of luck . There are alternatives, but they are sketchy and you are playing hide and seek with Mercer Island traffic enforcement . End of the day , I'm naturally going to ask one question and make a big wish for one other . Number one and pretty obviously , they could've gone about three or four layers deeper or three or four layers higher. My opinion is if that's the way the city of Seattle in the state of Washington wants us to go, obviously making single occupancy vehicle travel into Seattle proper a complete nightmare , then up the P and R capacity 3 or 4X over current. I personally believe they will have to do this anyway , in the next few years so I imagine it's going to be quite a bit more expensive to retrofit vs. doing it right...

Be sure to arrive here before 8 if you want a parking spot! If you can't find one Overlake and Eastgate park and rides are alternatives options. South Bellevue Park and ride is a great option as well but it's closed due to the east link being built...
Read moreFriends and I use the Mercer Island P&R on the weekends to meet up for carpooling for outdoor events in the mountains. We've been doing this for years and never had any of our vehicles broken into while parked at this P&R. It's not covered, but it is well lit and I often see a Mercer Island patrol car driving through the P&R. Safe, clean and well...
