I WOULD NEVER RETURN! Booking- One thing I did not like was that I was charged on 8/29 even though my service was scheduled for August 30. The charge came to $111.40, which I was told was because I mentioned Groupon when booking. For my service, I booked the seventy five minute head spa with mini facial. I was looking forward to a relaxing and rejuvenating treatment. When I arrived, the front desk staff were very nice, polite, and welcoming. They greeted me warmly, escorted me to the ladies room, and then brought me to the treatment area where I was told to place my belongings and get ready. So far, everything seemed fine and professional. THE ISSUE! The problems started at the very beginning. After the hostess left me in the room, I began to get changed. Unfortunately, the person who was going to perform my service Lucy came in before I was ready. I felt rushed and uncomfortable because I was not dressed. I asked her to give me one minute, but she seemed impatient. Massage- She began by using a strong minty type of oil during the head massage. Almost immediately, her finger slipped and some of that oil went directly into my eye. The burning was intense, and I tried to tell her what had happened. Instead of addressing it right away, she kept repeating the word relax over and over again. I tried to signal and explain that my eye was burning badly, but it seemed like there was a language barrier because she did not seem to understand. After some time, she finally realized what I was saying and wiped my eye. By then, I was already in pain and could not relax. In addition to the burning oil, there was water splashing everywhere during the treatment. It did not feel relaxing. On top of that, Lucy had nails that scratched my forehead during the head massage. When she began the mini facial, another cream ended up in my eye and caused burning again. At this point I had ENOUGH!.Between the water splashing on my face, the scratches, and the repeated burning sensations, I could not continue. I requested to speak with the manager with tears 😭 in my eyes. The manager came into the room and I simply told her that I was not enjoying my experience and politely asked if another therapist could take over. She listened and agreed to switch me to a different staff member. YAY! The second part of my session was with Nina, and she completely changed the tone of the experience. Nina was absolutely amazing. She took the time to adjust the headrest so that water would not splash in my face. She gave a much more professional and calming massage. The techniques she used helped me relax a little. Nina made the rest of the session a bit better. The only small issue was at the very end when she rinsed me off with water that was too hot, which burned me briefly. Still, I could tell that was an accident, and I appreciated how attentive she was overall. Because of her effort, I tipped her twenty dollars cash at the end of the service. Despite Nina’s professionalism, my overall impression of this business was very negative. The beginning of the treatment with Lucy was stressful, painful, and the opposite of relaxing. I cannot imagine paying to go through that again. In addition, the location itself is not conducive to relaxation. It is in a very busy area of Millburn and while I was inside, I could hear what sounded like another company outside washing windows. The sound of splashing water went on for nearly the entire seventy five minutes. It reminded me of sprinklers and completely broke the atmosphere of what should have been a peaceful spa session. In the end, I left feeling disappointed and frustrated. This was not the relaxing spa treatment that was advertised. I wish I had prepaid because if I had the choice I would have walked out. I will not be returning and would not recommend this head spa experience to others.

This Spa is 10/10! My massage therapist Celina was so sweet and really did an amazing job on my deep tissue massage. I came in with so many knots and pain due to stress and the positions that I sleep in and I left there feeling brand new🙌🏾 The ambiance was so nice ! The place was so clean, smelled nice, and had such relaxing music playing. I would definitely recommend!

I’ve been coming to Soothing Zen for years can’t believe I never wrote a review . The new receptionist Natalie is so sweet and really a pleasure to be greeted by. When you walk in she offers you water and candy. My go to is Jenny and she makes me feel like a new person every time. If you have not tried them please Do. The rates are also extremely reasonable.

It was disappointing to buy 90 minute massage and not getting a full body massage which I was looking for when I booked it.

They only massages my back side (close to 1 hour) and 10-15 min facial massage. I am puzzled I had to ask to massage my head and my feet (roughly 15 min on each). My friend never got those issues. I have a witness in all these since we’re in couples room. NO ONE asked for stomach massage as they’re try to claim, the masseuse did not massage the front side of the extremities while my friend got them- I repeat no one is asked for a stomach massage - we expected a standard back and front body massage.

Please be careful when they push the extra service/fees - we said no several times and they claimed we didn’t - on aromatherapy and stone massage. Nothing special from my personal experience. We kept saying we want only what is included in our initial booking and assumed we did.

The masseuse Julia was not truthful claiming I asked for stomach massage- I have witness to back-up given we were in couples massage room. I asked to massage the front when they didn’t and then super vocal and defensive when I try to express my experience of how poor are their services - they kept quite as soon as I said we’ll pay anyway including the 20% tip demand. I pointed to her she is the one who confirmed I’ll get a full body massage midway the session- which didn’t happen.

Owners of this place should know when your workers are not truthful and fabricate story to cover up their slack here. If you go to a 90 minute massage and have to ask to to massage the neck and head it’s a red flag coz they’re probably do not know what they’re suppose to be doing. The massage wasn’t relaxing when you felt rush despite it is 90 min coz they focus on back only then kept going out of the room several times.

Feel free to reach out to me and my friend to talk so you can straighten up your response- otherwise the workers are reflection for the owners (not recognizing the truth) is more concerning to return and recommend.

It’s a shame to see a fabricated responses overall and cannot fully take responsibility using miscommunication to cover up staff who does not want to hear no for an answer when you push back for extra charges and worker who do NOT do their job right and then fabricate stories on what the customer asked means they don’t listen to the customers.

They are not...

I typically do not write reviews, however due to a horrible experience I want to make sure anyone who is thinking to visit to think twice. The idea of a couples massage with my girlfriend was great! I was under the impression we will have some relaxation time together especially because we’ve recently just had a rough week work and personal. First and foremost for the couples massage both masseuse were chatty Cathy’s and I was unable to relax at all, as a client coming into relax I should not have to request for silence when it’s company policy. My girlfriend then got a facial because she deserves everything and more. My girlfriend filled out the document they provide for allergy reasoning and in the long run next day caught an allergic reaction on her face, a little bit over a week and my girlfriends face is still irritated. Enough was enough and I decided to call the Spa to inquire about ingredients to see if there was anything in the products my girlfriend was allergic to. The customer service representative over the phone was not as bad as the masseurs however to accuse the customer as if it’s our fault is definitely not a way make this a better experience. My girlfriend was under impression she selected the basic facial because it was the safe selection knowing she is allergic to a few things and Yeng or Ying (the lady who answered the phone) immediately cut me off to explain which facial was selected and made the impression as if it was my girlfriends fault. Overall at the end of the call we were given which sounded like a ultimatum to have my girlfriend remove her bad review for a refund, when I re asked to get clarification she advised us she was willing to process a refund which it’s appreciated. At this time the lady spoke with my girlfriend and explained the two chatty Cathy’s were terminated because of violating companies policy, as we drove all the way from NYC to visit this Spa, the one who handed my girlfriend the refund was one of the masseuse who serviced our couple massage. Overall the company does not care about client care and believe lies are better to tell to win over there clients. Not the case. Again thank you for the refund and glad it did not have to go any further but best believe we will not be back and will not be advising our friends and family to utilize...
