Im writing this review to shed light on extremely troubling experiences I had while working at New Balance. It’s not easy to speak out, but I feel it's important to warn others and hopefully prompt some accountability from upper management. During my time at the company, the new store manager at my location (Monroe) made several prejudiced and inappropriate comments, particularly about the Indian community. He openly stated that he did not want to assist Indian customers, making generalizations such as calling them “messy” or complaining about how they “smell.” These remarks were made in front of staff and were not isolated incidents — they reflect a pattern of racist behavior that went unchecked. Also Overheard Several Comments About African Americans In The Store & How That’s Who We Need Too “Watch” In addition to this, the same manager engaged in inappropriate conduct by writing his personal number on customer return slips, allegedly in hopes of pursuing relationships with customers. This type of behavior is deeply unprofessional and unacceptable in any workplace. When I reported these incidents, I expected my concerns to be taken seriously. Instead, I encountered a toxic and dismissive environment in upper management, who oversee the district, have gone through multiple store managers (4–5, to my knowledge), which speaks volumes about how poorly the district is being run. Rather than addressing the racism and misconduct, I was pushed out of the company — essentially fired for speaking up. When I reached out to HR, the representative, they did not offer support. Instead, they suggested that I leave the company, implying that I was the problem for raising these serious issues. This is not just my experience — other current and former employees, including a previous store manager, can verify this toxic environment. Ryan's hands on prior experience in the manufacturing of the NB shoes speaks for itself, and his knowledge and eagerness to help customers beyond what's required really appealed to me. Ryan and Canela helped me find the shoes that were not available in store but were available in NB network. Ryan even made sure by calling other NB location so that the shoe I was looking for is placed on hold for me. He knew the products backwards and forwards. By just looking down at my shoes as I walked to a chair, he immediately asked if I was looking for a new pair of 928v3's!
