Zavala's Market & Taqueria — Attraction in Monroe

Zavala's Taqueria is an absolute gem! From the moment you're greeted, you can feel the warm and friendly atmosphere. But the real star of the show is the food – truly some of the best and most authentic Mexican cuisine I've had. The made-to-order warm tortilla chips w/ fresh, house-made guacamole and salsa are the perfect way to start. They offer a great variety of main dishes (Carnitas platter is amazing, the Birria is honestly top-notch) and everything I've tried has been bursting with flavor and made with fresh ingredients. The service is also exceptional, with attentive and personable staff, it was honestly as if we were at someones house during holiday dinner - genuinely nice folks here. If you're in Monroe WI or even passing through (less than a mile off of Hwy 11), Zavala's Taqueria is a MUST-visit. You won't be disappointed! They also serve breakfast ALL DAY!

*P.S. If they are selling fresh Tamales (chicken or pork) at the front register MAKE SURE TO GRAB A LEAST A BAG OF THOSE :)...

With ratings as high as this place has, I was expecting my dining experience to be good. However I still surprised by just how nice the dining area was.

Service was great the entire time we were there, and the food was delicious! If you aren't sure what to order or are overwhelmed by all the options, ask for recommendations. On Martin's recommendation, I tried the Huarache, I've never had something similar at another Mexican restaurant, but it was absolutely delightful.

We will be returning whenever we're in the area and telling everyone we know about this place.
