I have shopped at the Monroeville Labriola Market for a long time. Employees are very nice. Store is a little cramped. I'm giving it a one star because of the "owner" customer service. I purchased 2 containers of basket cheese with an expiration date of 4/21/22 at their store. When I opened them on 4/14/22 they had an awful smell and was obviously spoiled. I was not going to put this cheese in my pies and serve it to my family. I took the cheese back to the store and the owner before even hearing the details announced to the store, "oh no, basket cheese, It was fresh when we bought it and I don't know what happens to it after it leaves the store." Pretty much said tough luck and the accusation of that I did something to make it go bad. Really? Well, they were fresh when I bought it at your store but when I opened them, they were bad! He did not even offer a $1.00 refund. I paid close to $20.00 for the 2 baskets of cheese which I left there for them to dispose of. Any other grocery store would have refunded...
Read moreStellar Italian grocery, especially for the area. Their freshly-made stuff is great, and they have an excellent selection of Italian ingredients and meats. Great place to go to for lunch too, since they do a lot of business making sandwiches.
Their Italian pastries are also pretty good: I say this as someone who grew up in an Italian family in Central New Jersey. The sflogiatelles are great and the cannolis are pretty good, I usually see them selling them Sunday mornings. They also do orders if you want to order a large number of cannolis for a party or something.
I don't cook so much Italian nowadays but I've thrown a lot of coworkers this way because you can find almost everything you need in good quality at a fair price here. Also, bonus for mostly stocking Cento's oils/tomatoes/etc,...
Read moreI Just Love this store, it's just a little Italian corner store. And when you walk in the smell is just divine. I am from Penn Hills, PA originally and they had a store in Penn Hills too. But since Covid-19 they have closed there doors for good too I think. But they still have 2 other stores, this one in Monroeville, PA and the other across the river in aspinwall, PA, so when I go home to visit family always make a point to stop and stalk up on things. Yeah, things don't need like these homemade Italian Love Knot Cookies that I bought 3 packages of, and their Wedding Soup is to die for! So if any of you love an old Italian Deli then try to make a Road Trip and go to Labriola Italian Groceries. You'll be sing "That's Amore" all the...
