Haven't ever really felt the need to leave a negative review for a store before, and usually I like OfficeMax, but my experience today was just downright awful.
Went in to purchase an office chair I had been eyeing up since the last time I had visited the store a week prior as I wanted to price-check. Store looked like it had the best price, went in, barely anyone in the store but struggled to find an associate for assistance for purchasing, found one who apologized and said they were busy, so I waited a few minutes hoping someone would come assist but no dice, so I went to find another.
Walked over to another associate and before I could even say anything received a very snippy response of "Actually I'm helping another client right now so I can't be of assistance before walking away"
Waited another 15 minutes by the chair before finally that associate came back, scanned the chair and stated they not only did not have that chair in stock, but wasn't available in any store within 100 miles of here.
Why would you have a product out for display for multiple weeks if it's unavailable? And even if you are out of stock, there's no reason to be so hostile about it, I'm in no way, shape, or form a Karen when it comes to shopping, I barely said anything to these associates but was met with nothing but being brushed off.
Can't say I'll be returning to the store for any more office...

Talked to the assistant store manger & he said would exchange the item for one time courtesy. I drove 45 mins to store mind you , the main store manager Dixie intervened rudely during the transaction & said couldn't after I had original receipt & agreement . Office Depot does not backup anything anymore after 30 days & I was rudely handled & denied. I'm a professional who desires & buys great products & support. Sadly enough this location needs to be restaffed with a new store manager who can handle situations better because she is not professional in any way with loud abrupt attitude . I would expect that associates know rules & regulations of the comp. Save your money and go somewhere else high ticket items ...
Read morePreviously good experiences, however, today I called to check on delivery of a report submitted online and the first staff member didn't even let me finish the question. She transfered my call to another staff member who seemed in a hurry, was answering questions before I finished framing these as well, provided answers which didn't apply (significantly in part because I had not finished framing the inquiry) and reminded me that the Office Max policy only guaranteed that the project will be finished by the next business day if submitted before 2pm. Very different experience from a similar request last year when the staff was courteous and helpful - even if the queueu was long and it was Monday. Hope those staff...
