It is no secret that Monterey Park is flooded with massage shops, but Golden Apple stands apart from all of the others. The shop opened a few months ago in a new set of shops on Garvey and Nicholson. This is the same set of shops that were destroyed by fire a few months ago.
As you enter the shop you walk into a tastefully decorated waiting area. The manager is very friendly and professional. She will put you at ease as she asks what problems you are having with your body. She will select the appropriate masseuse to do the massage. The rates are competitive. On my last visit, I also enjoyed a salt scrub. Facials and foot massages are also available.
The rooms are new and smell very fresh and clean. There is soft spa music that is coupled with sounds of trickling water. My massage was both therapeutic and relaxing. The whole massage ended up being 55 minutes instead of one hour; At the counter, there are a few stickers saying that you can pay with a credit card. However, the staff said you couldn't because the boss/supervisor (with access to the credit card machines?) was not there; so you have to pay with cash. Was about to pay a 30% tip but was told that a minimum of $20 tip (40% of the listed price of the massage) was expected. The massage was alright.
