🇺🇸 Lincoln Hotel in Monterey Park, Los Angeles

This is an OK place to stay but it's not a typical Best Western hotel. This one is in downtown Monterrey Park close to medical facilities. Building has 7 floors. It's maintained and fairly clean. Definitely not a classy place to stay. Evidently the management hires the least costly improvements. Very sloppy, poor quality workmanship evidenced by the bathroom in the room I stayed in. Be forewarned that they charge a daily parking fee that is not mentioned on the website when reserving a room, which is requested in cash at check-in. Plenty of parking. Garage isn't very clean and is old. Free breakfast is included but there's a worker-guard who collects the breakfast tickets as you come in. No ticket, no breakfast. Plus, the front desk staff doesn't understand that you have to have a ticket for each day of your stay. If you choose to get breakfast, don't expect a typical Best Western breakfast - no scrambled eggs or mini-omelets, no bacon or sausage, no biscuits and gravy. No yogurt. No variety of individual milk. Worst of all, no famous Best Western fresh baked Cinnamon Rolls. They offer "Daily Special" of boiled cabbage, boiled eggs, eggs boiled in special soy sauce. The worker guards the waffle station so you can only choose what he's already cut in quarters and placed on the counter. Limited TV stations are available although the TV in my room was large and relatively new. Free wifi is available. The rooms appear to have been remodeled. There are built-in USB ports are on both sides of the bed. Safe, coffee maker, and small fridge in the room. The ice machine and microwave oven are down the hall. The pictures posted on the website don't look anything like my room. Unfortunately, they don't provide anything showing any amenities for the hotel. I posted the sheet from the room. Bottom line: nice, cheap hotel as long as you don't have high expectations.

Highlight of my 1-night stay would be the free breakfast! You can see from the picture that there's plenty of options from hot to cold, from cooked to raw veggies. Everything is nicely displayed and restocked. The peanuts (in little plastic containers) is great! Good with congee but even better for late night snacks! No free bottle water, but there's water machine in the breakfast area where you can bring your own bottle and fill it up. I have read comments about the "rude guy" in the breakfast room. I think it could be a cultural gap/ miscommunication. His English is not perfectly fluent and hence, it sounds a bit too direct/ rude when he uses simple English to answer your question/ direct customer to the table. One thing that he could have improved is turn down his mobile phone volumn when he watches videos ;) Thanks to my status with Best Western, when I asked for upgrade and free welcome gift upon check in, the front desk lady did help to get me a suite and also send me a box of See's chocolate, what a nice touch! The shower head in the bathroom is positioned a bit low, not great for tall people. Also, the chocking along the bathtub needs to be replaced. I have seen a lot of signs of repair on the bath tub, should have just replaced the whole thing.....They have a fancy electrical toilet seat, but the warm water system (for washing butt LOL) is not working. Free covered parking, feel safe and easy access to the hotel.

I love this hotel! Beth at the front desk was so accommodating and kind. My boyfriend and I had just come from a hotel that had fleas and Beth was able to find us a room last minute. I'd stayed here 4 times before and every time I've had a great experience, so when we had to leave the other hotel I told him that we should just go to Lincoln because I've consistently had good experiences. The rooms were clean and modern and the included breakfast is always so nice. It's not like most hotels at this price range that only give you toast and cereal, this one has breakfast with eggs, ham, sausage, potatoes and rice porridge. I do miss the chow mein they used to have with cabbage, but you're still getting all this with a waffle maker, cereals, toasts, muffins, oatmeals, juice, milk and tea. Check out is also at noon instead of 11am like most hotels now which I love because I hate waking up early and feeling rushed. The area is quiet, safe, walkable, surrounded by amazing restaurants, and close enough to any attractions you need in LA. The staff has always been consistently kind to me from the front desk to the parking attendants, to the breakfast attendants to the cleaning staff. I will be staying here again and again! I forgot to take pictures of the room this time but I included my breakfast and beautiful view.

Ok so my husband and I waited in the car for 9 hours to get our room in our car.( which we knew we had to wait based upon our flight) Flight got in at 10:30pm we went driving around till 1am and asked if they can check us in early. they couldn't so we patiently waited in the car which was ok until it was the next day for us to check in and we waited an extra 2 hours in the lobby for them to "clean the room". I will say the front desk clerk was understanding but when we got the room it wasn't cleaned properly. There was loose hair in the bathroom on the floor and in the tub .. room smelled Moldy and the all the channels were in mandarin or Spanish. Hardly any English channels for recent movies. That's not a big deal seeing as though this hotel is in a Asian community so its expected they would cater to the masses in that area...otherwise then that. No pool, no rooftop to lounge in, no gym.. there is continental breakfast serving the basics. MINI waffles, cereal and hard boiled eggs.. and mini Danishes... I saw a post where they served eggs and bacon I guess they don't anymore. Anyway check in was hectic because of the wait but check out was simple. Reviewed on October 27th 2021

"Stayed here for a week, the hotel was alright, but there's room for improvement. The rooms are spacious but on the older side and somewhat poorly maintained, my window was cracked. TV had like no English channels, but like 20 Vietnamese shopping channels. Cleaning service was very lacking, they say they only clean your room once every 3 days due to the pandemic, but it's more like they come in sporadically to replace your towels or bed sheets, they never did a ""full"" clean during our stay the way you expect daily at other similarly-priced hotels. The free included breakfast was nice, but the options are pretty limited (e.g. their daily special was the same thing during our entire stay). You also have to keep asking the front desk for the breakfast vouchers, which seems to be a theme here. You have to keep going to the front desk for stuff, and some of the staff were really helpful while others were not. Plenty of onsite parking spots and parking is fairly cheap ($5/day). There's also a few good Asian restaurants nearby. All in all, an okay experience.
