I selected David Ha (the owner of Ha Dynasty Jewelry & Gems Laboratory) based upon my having previously read various positive write-ups from patrons who left feedback on Google and Yelp, including one write-up that was directly on point to the services that were needed on this particular occasion. I handle family law matters in the county of Los Angeles, and today was the court-ordered exchange for the ex-husband to return the 2 karat diamond wedding ring to the ex-wife. Given the history of this case, I wanted verification as to what was being returned. Counsel for the parties agreed that it was cheaper to pay Mr. Ha to travel to the location for the exchange (Diamond Bar), rather than for counsel to travel to Mr. Ha's store (San Gabriel). Since today was also the scheduled move-out of personal effects from the prior family residence, it made sense to do the diamond verification at the same time. I paid Mr. Ha in full a couple of days in advance for his services to ensure that he would feel good about traveling to Diamond Bar, and I was given a receipt of prepayment. Mr. Ha arrived today on time as promised. Mr. Ha examined the diamond certification that accompanied the ring, and used a variety of tools to examine the ring itself -- including, but not limited to two different types of diamond testing devices, a jeweler's loupe with built-in lights, a jeweler's micrometer, and documentation regarding diamonds. Mr. Ha explained the type of diamond certification that accompanied the ring versus other forms of diamond certification, and Mr. Ha wrote-up his own diamond certification with an appraised value. Although demanding a diamond verification from a qualified expert (as a condition of the exchange) caused some hard feelings on the part of the ex-husband, my job is to protect the rights of my clients. My client felt reassured and so did I. I look forward to visiting the store again to have a look at the merchandise under circumstances unrelated to my business, and I would definitely use Mr. Ha again in the future when the need arises. Top notch appraiser! Not only does David posses a wealth of knowledge concerning jade, he also does his appraisals for a fair price. I called around to several auction houses and insurance specialists to see if they could appraise my jade collection. Many offered to do so for rates in the hundreds per item, and they had rigid appointments. David offered to appraise whenever worked best with my schedule AND he did all my pieces for the same price the others were charging for one item! I was in over my head, but David was able to give me detailed information and a price range of what he believed each piece would bring. As I had so many pieces, he even came down to my car to appraise. Overall, I was amazed by the customer service and knowledge David presented. This amazing experience all started with a call to David. He was so kind and polite on the phone in setting up an appointment and giving us directions to his kiosk. We arrived almost and hour early and were still immediately helped by him. The process itself was thorough and professional. We were having a wedding ring appraised for insurance purposes. He specially asked to keep all available information hidden until he was done to prove his accuracy, which was spot on.
