I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Morrison Natural History Museum and I must say that it was an absolutely fantastic experience! The museum is a great destination for families with kids, and my tour guide Hannah made the visit even more enjoyable with her engaging and fun approach.
One of the highlights of the museum for me was their collection of dinosaur bones. As a fan of natural history, it was a real treat to see these fossils up close and to learn about their history and significance. The museum does an excellent job of presenting the information in a way that is both educational and entertaining, making it a great experience for both kids and adults.
What really made the tour special was our guide Hannah. She was incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and her love for the subject matter was infectious. Her presentation was engaging and she did a great job of getting everyone involved and excited about what we were seeing. Her ability to connect with the audience, particularly the kids, was truly remarkable.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Morrison Natural History Museum to anyone looking for an informative and engaging experience. The collection of dinosaur bones is truly fascinating, and the tour by Hannah is a real treat. I left the museum feeling inspired and educated, and I can't wait to go...
Read moreI don’t want to be dramatic and say that visiting this museum was a life changing experience for my family, but it was pretty close. 😂 We visited this museum on a whim back in March and our family still has regular debates with ourselves and close friends about how exactly a Stegosaurus walked. I personally had never even thought about how small a baby dinosaur was or the behavior of a baby with its mother. As two millennial parents raised on Jurassic Park and A Land Before Time, we finally were able to comprehend and accept that a Brontosaurus doesn’t truly exist, and we use the proper name, Apatosaurus. Having a highly knowledgeable docent lead us on a tour was a priceless experience and we even got to help clean a fossil at the end. Truly a wonderful experience we will never forget. We can’t wait to return with all the questions we have developed scaffolded off of what we learned that day. It definitely ignited a growing passion for dinosaurs in my children and we are having so much fun learning alongside them. Thank...
Read moreI wish there were more stars! We drove up and hesitated, because the building looks small from the outside and it was $18/pp! I'm so happy that we (four adults) went in and waited for our tour with Connor.
The museum has original/locally discovered, and cast dinosaur bones, but it was through the knowledge and storytelling from Connor that the displays came to life.
The collection covers millions of years of Paleolithic development of this area of Colorado & Connor had stories, comparisons, and fun facts galore. He knew his stuff & shared that there were special qualifications above and beyond his undergraduate degree to be able to offer tours.
A highlight of the tour was the extraction room, where a worker diligently removed bits from a solid rock with a hand drill, exposing fossils. We got to try our hands at this outside, too.
All in all, a fantastic attraction to go to after Red Rocks and before lunch in...
