The Rooftop Tavern at Red Rocks ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Spicy, scenic, and seriously satisfying.
Let me start by saying this rooftop view is so majestic it made me briefly consider quitting my job and becoming a full-time mountain enthusiast (until I realized that would cut into my meatball budget).
We kicked off our meal with the Italian Nachos—which, fair warning, are spicier than a love affair gone wrong. These things come smothered in Calabrian chile cheese sauce, sausage, banana peppers, and regret (the good kind). I ate one chip and immediately got flashbacks to every time I thought I could handle “medium” salsa. 10/10 would cry again.
Next up: the Antipasto Board. This thing rolled up to our table looking like it had just come from a magazine shoot. Meats, cheeses, veggies—all laid out like a Pinterest board had a delicious baby with a deli counter. It was giving "classy picnic on a yacht" energy.
Now the meatballs—oh, the glorious meatballs. I don't know what magic Nonna is back there stirring in the kitchen, but these were juicy, tender, and swimming in marinara that tasted like it had stories. I’d name my future child after these meatballs. Sorry, Greg.
I didn’t try the Firecracker Flatbread, but just the name makes me think it could fight me—and win.
Anyway, if you’re hiking Red Rocks and need to restore your soul and taste buds, climb one more level up to this rooftop gem. Bonus tip: drink a cold one with your Italian Nacho meltdown and bring tissues—for the heat, the beauty, and maybe the existential joy of a perfectly roasted Brussels sprouts salad.
Will absolutely be back to burn my mouth...
Read moreWe decided on a spontaneous shopping trip to Morrison in search of unique gifts, and after finding just what we were looking for, we stopped by the Roof Top Tavern for drinks and appetizers. The tavern has a rustic yet cozy charm, with a bar on the first level and additional seating upstairs. The rooftop space is divided into two areas: one overlooking the quaint town of Morrison and another, quieter spot offering views of Red Rocks.
The rooftop ambiance is delightful, with ample seating, plush pillows, fire pits, and eclectic chandeliers. Dormant vines adorned the space during our visit, hinting at the lush greenery and vibrant colors they’ll bring in the spring and summer.
Since we visited during off-hours (around 2 PM), the bartender also served as our waiter. He was prompt and attentive, taking our drink and food orders efficiently. While the appetizer menu was a bit limited for sharing, we opted for two flatbreads, which were the perfect size for a light lunch for four.
Overall, the Roof Top Tavern is a charming and casual spot with reasonable prices. I look forward to returning, especially to experience the rooftop in full bloom during the...
Read morePretty disappointing experience here. Our waitress just didn't care to do her job efficiently and just really didn't want to be at work. I asked the her to give us just a couple minutes after ordering beers to look over the menu to order food. Instead, she proceeded to have a 20+ minute conversation with someone she knew at another table, and only came back to take our order when she noticed that we finally had to get up from our table to ask the gal behind the bar if we could put our food order in- we were heading to a show at Red Rocks and didn't have all night. When she brought our food she didn't bother to bring any napkins or silverware...I asked her for it and she said sure, then proceeded to walk away and go behind the bar to do something else, never came back. I watched her dancing around behind the bar and just goofing off chatting with her coworker. After several minutes of waiting patiently, we once again had to get up out of our table and get the silverware and napkins ourselves. This girl couldn't even get the basics and bare minimum right unfortunately. Food was all right but the service was so terrible, it wasn't worth...
