Palm Casual Patio Furniture — Attraction in Mount Pleasant

My wife and I live in Durham, NC, and decided to shop for some outdoor furniture for our new deck when we were visiting friends in Charleston. A quick Google search confirmed that Palm Casual in Mt. Pleasant, SC, was the place to go for quality merchandise. Our intention was to not buy anything but instead to see what was available and to gather information and pricing. We were greeted by a salesperson, Nick, who was straightforward, no pressure, and clearly well-informed. We walked out about 1 1/2 hours later as proud and excited owners of six new chairs.

Turns out we made a mistake with two of those six chairs - the cushions became soaked when it rained for the first time and took days to dry out. Our deck is open and we just don’t want to cover or remove the cushions and store them every night. We were resigned to selling them on craigslist or elsewhere and taking a huge loss.

My wife suggested I contact Palm Casual just in case. I spoke to Mark and he has agreed to take the chairs back and replace them with the same sling chairs (without cushions) that match our others. I confess, I am blown away by their willingness to do this. They genuinely want us to be satisfied. We got this same vibe when we walked into the store that first visit, and they demonstrated their commitment to customer service numerous times throughout our transaction but especially with this return and exchange.

I don’t write a lot of reviews but when I have a product or customer service experience that is really exceptional or really bad I will do so. I am totally psyched to highly recommend Palm Casual in Mt. Pleasant, SC. We purchased a fire table and sectional in early January. The fire table arrived several weeks later in the wrong color. After we called they ordered the correct color and let us keep the wrong table but didn’t provide the correct one for another month. The sectional was a disaster!! Obviously with supply chain issues we understood the initial timeline given during the purchase of 4 months but that was ultimately surpassed by another 2+ months. The frame arrived a month late with loaner cushions due to a fabric shortage on our selected material. Our actual cushions arrived a few weeks later (5 months from original order) but one cushion was lost in their warehouse for another month. Each customer service call was handled with a “we will find it and get it delivered”. We called weekly for 1.5 months and finally they had to order a new cushion which we just picked up this week. Overall their documentation and customer service is disjointed and poor to say the least. They are still using paper invoices but their credit card machine works very well. Their products seem to be of good quality but their customer service process is HORRIBLE and needs a full rehab in order to keep up with the times. Saying SORRY doesn’t fix the issues they are having and it’s not like they are overcoming this by charging reasonable price for their products. Wish we would have purchased from Backyard Retreats or similar! Never...

We chose Palm Casual for our furniture by our pool and screened porch because we knew of their lifetime warranty on their products. We were tired of spending thousands on outdoor furniture (even from reputable retailers), only to have them fall apart in 5 years. Everyone who works at Palm Casual is very knowledgeable and know the right item/fabric that is best for the area. They brought up potential positives and negatives of certain styles that I would never have thought of (ie. Furniture height in certain locations, positions of certain pieces). They truly care! We had an issue with one of our pieces we purchased last year, and they replaced it in less than a week. They stand by their products and want everyone to have a great experience. Yes, some items and fabrics are on back order for a very long time; however, this is seen everywhere right now and it’s worth the wait for quality products and unbeatable warranties and customer service.
