WARNING about City Sport Personal Training Services (PRT) - DO NOT sign up for their personal training program, and if you have and you are in their contract that has "No Expiration; Service Completion Date: Accrued sessions (if any) do not expire. Subject to the foregoing, if....", don't let them tell you that you have to keep paying them to use your accrued sessions. Take them to small claims court (its easy) to get your unused sessions money back and we all can get them to stop this practice and address their deceptive contract!
5/12/25 Update: I just took then to Small Claims court over their deceptive practice of making you continue to pay them to get access to unused accrued sessions, and the judge reviewed that clause, found it very confusing, and awarded me damages in the amount I had paid for the session that were left at the end of my contract.
Original January 2025 Review: While I am happy with their regular "drop in" gym membership, my experience with their PRT program has revealed systemic issues at every level. After reading other reviews, I realize this isn't an isolated incident but rather a consistent pattern of problematic business practices, and I want to ensure others don't have to experience this.
My experience included the following specific issues:
Deceptive Sales and Contract: I signed up for a 6-month PRT contract after being assured both verbally by Noel the local PRT Manager and seeing explicitly stated in the contract that "accrued sessions never expire." This was a key factor in purchasing a larger package, as I travel frequently and planned to use my accrued sessions after the 6 months. However, after making all the monthly payments over the six months and only using 50% of my sessions, I was told these sessions would only be available for 30 days after my last payment - directly contradicting both the verbal assurance and contract language. They insisted I would need to keep paying monthly to access sessions I had already paid for.
Unresponsive and Unprofessional Management: The Local PRT manager Noel was highly engaged during the sales process but became unresponsive and unprofessional after I signed up. When I was finally able to track him down, he would promise to "check with his VP" but never follow through. When I tried to cancel my contract using the corporate contact listed in the contract and get information about how to use my accrued sessions, they took no ownership and would just redirect back to Noel. I spent over a month with multiple emails and got nowhere. The PRT VP (Christian) who was supposed to handle the escalation was unresponsive No one took ownership or provided resolution. The only way to cancel the contract was by initiating a dispute through my credit card.
Operational Deficiencies: The scheduling system is inadequate for a professional service. While there is an on-line system it is not up to date, and I showed up multiple times for sessions on the schedule but no trainer showed up. Noel's solution requires the client texting trainers the night before - an unreliable system for a service costing hundreds of dollars monthly.
The individual trainers demonstrate competence when available, but the documented issues with contracts, management, and operations present significant risks. Consider alternative personal training providers.

Read moreI've been a member here for 3 months now. This gym is within walking distance to my house so I keep going back, but it is really not worth the price. Scroll down for a summary if you don't want to read my detailed review.
The gym is extremely crowded during peak hours (after work, ~5:30-7:30pm) - to the point that I often cannot do every exercise I'd like unless I stand and wait for a machine or bench to open up. The temperature always seems a few degrees too warm for a gym, making cardio uncomfortable. At least 50% of the time I can't find a clean toilet to use in the women's locker room. Unfortunately, I have seen men walk into the women's locker room before, and because there is no door they will see anything and anyone near the entrance. I have also had very unpleasant experiences with creepy guys waiting 2 feet from the machine I am using, standing and watching me use it, even during non-peak hours when half the gym is empty, which leads to a terrible gym 'culture.'
While the staff are friendly, they are extremely salesy. In order to use a free 5 day pass, you have to sit down and listen to their sales pitch where they actually make you choose a package. Then every day during the 5 day trial I would receive a phone call from the staff asking if I was ready to join. After I signed up, the personal trainer called me daily leaving me voicemails trying to sell me on personal training after I declined. It feels like I am working out at a car dealership.
PROS: -Lots of cardio equipment -Free towels -Class pricing included in membership -Machines and weights are all relatively new, clean, and functional
CONS: -Car dealership-level sales approaches trying to sign you up for membership and personal training -VERY busy during peak hours -Frequently a few degrees too hot for comfortable exericse -Almost no classes offered after work hours/on weekends -Bathrooms often not clean -Awful culture (men walking into women's locker room, men standing 2 feet away watching you work out while "waiting for your machine" in an otherwise half-empty gym at...
Read moreMy husband and I visited this gym to explore the facilities. Upon arrival, we were met by an individual seated at the front desk, who did not introduce himself or offer any form of warm welcome. Instead, he simply handed me a schedule of available classes with little to no engagement.
As I inquired about the gym’s offerings and compared them to other fitness centers, his responses were dismissive, condescending, and, frankly, rude. He repeatedly interrupted me mid-sentence, making it difficult to even complete a thought. The lack of professionalism and basic courtesy was off-putting, to say the least.
While the gym itself appeared well-maintained and offered a decent range of amenities, it was notably busy for a Saturday evening. However, the real dealbreaker was the initial interaction. The unprofessionalism and unpleasant demeanor of the person assisting us made both my husband and me extremely uncomfortable.
For this reason alone, I will not be joining this gym. If I do decide to sign up in the future, I would do so online to ensure that this individual does not receive any commission. If the management is serious about attracting and retaining new members, they should reconsider who they place at the front desk—first impressions matter, and unfortunately, this one was far...
