This rating is for Kimberly even though all of the front door crew are consistently great. Office Depot is a large store but it has a wall of educational kids items - learning and traditional games, erase-able writing books, summer time study workbooks, clay, crayons, flashcards, pencils etc. So it was great when I showed Kimberly an item and asked her and she walked with me to find if there were multiples of it - even though it was a super long walk. She was super helpful and listened to what I was looking for and helped me look for two other items. Perhaps because there’s less people in the store, and most people have to walk quite a ways before requests, the staff are able to provide quality service? I’ve never seen irate customers here. Kimberly even gave me feedback about one item and because of her positive and genuine feedback, I bought it. It seemed like she actually liked the product and used it too. I hope the managers see my review here!
The people in the front always greet you cheerfully - so even though it is one of those big box stores selling impersonal office items with people in uniform, it has a personable feel about it. The cheerful greeting sets the tone, so it doesn’t feel so dreary buying printers, printer ink or slabs of paper. There’s also a copy room service in the back, if you need to make copies or bind reports or work packets.
I like their colorful displays, organizational items and backpacks - it seems like someone put some effort into making office stuff appealing. Would be nice to see more educational workbooks for older children and people! I liked that there was some effort in having educational games like spelling Bogle or Scrabble…even surprised to see different...
Read moreUpon arriving at the Mountain View, CA store yesterday, one of my first transactions was to make a return, which generated a Gift Card. I knew I would be shopping for other items in a few minutes, so I just stuck the Gift Card in my pocket to use then. By the time I had finished all of my shopping and gotten to the point-of-sale check out, I forgot that I had the Gift Card, so as is my norm I pulled out my credit card and charged my purchase. Oh, no! Within a minute, I realized what I had done wrong. Of course I had meant to use my Gift Card. I turned right around and got back into the checkout queue. I was welcomed immediately by "Ali," and I apologetically explained to him what I had absentmindedly done. He understood right away, and graciously returned the items to my credit card, then re-sold them to me (even asking me if I had originally used any discount coupons, which I had, so he applied the same one to my new sales transaction) using my Gift Card as payment in full. All better. Ali was so very kind, efficient, and patient. He handled everything with grace, quickly and quietly, so that I didn't feel like more of an idiot than I already did on my own. Overall, an outstanding...
