The Super 8 by Wyndham in Mountain View (on the El Camino Real) was our choice for a quick visit to the S.F. Bay Area Peninsula. |The location is a definite plus (worth a Point), the fact that our stay was FREE...well, that was definitely worth a Point , and the excellent Customer Service provided by Mike P. (General Mgr.) completes the trifecta. Thank-you Mike!|The establishment is older...but nice and quiet. We ALWAYS request to view several potential rooms for our stay (no matter how many Points the Hotel/Motel may or may not have listed) and Mike was nice to accommodate this request with a smile. The rooms are adequately appointed with flat Screen TV, Mini-Fridge, Microwave and a nice bed (VERY FIRM Mattress...which is our choice, but everyone might not enjoy). Coffeemaker, Blowdryer, and really good Internet Service (I imagine this is a MUST in this “Techie” neighborhood/location) are all provided. The room was relatively clean, to the not so discerning eye and because of previous reviews, while in the room, we always wore out slippers. The key here is not to look “really close”. The appliances are “older”. |Free breakfast is provided (wrapped danishes, yogurt w/very limited flavors are available...enough to get you in the car and on your way in search of a more viable meal). Does this particular establishment compare to a supposed “high quality” chain? Probably not, but for the price of under $100.00 per night or FREE (due to “points” used), in this Reviewer’s opinion, the Super 8 by Wyndham in Mountain View, CA has earned this 3 Point review with a “doable”...
Read moreAt first appearance, the lobby was closed and signage pointing to a night check in window due to local health department measures relating to covid. Although as said ridiculous guidelines were lifted a year ago and they're using the old signs as an excuse to not open the lobby for coffee or breakfast. If you want breakfast, they offer a banana through the window. Lame! Looking into the lobby, there were boxes and boxes of stuff and piles of mail on every surface as if the manager was using the lobby to hord junk. The bathroom in my room was laiden with toxic mold as they keep using flat paint to keep painting over existing mold and the smell is downright putrid. It hits you in the face as the sheetrock is saturated and unmaintained. The carpet is clean and the bed is comfortable but not worth risking your health. I hope I don't end up taking bed bugs home with me with everything else...
