I came from Houston to visit this place by searching on Google Maps. We entered by an one-way entrance which we had missed twice (that means we had made two rounds). The third time, thanks to a very kind man from the SFA Ground and Transportation in the nearby that we could find the way to get in there. Once we were inside, we saw some other parking lots on the other sides of the park, that meant there were other entrances, larger and easier to drive. If only Google Maps would have shown we the other way! This place is very nice, peaceful and plenty of beautiful flowers, but I am sure that many visitors from other places would miss out because it is too hard to find a way to access. Read moreThis garden is a must see for azalea season! It is really beautiful! I posted some photos I took while there. There is parking inside the garden. The entrance is hard to see and is flanked by huge azaleas. It is a narrow 1 lane path, but the area opens up to a small lot. There is also parking just up the street near the SFA Transportation and Grounds bldg. The path is asphalt and the majority looks to be wheel chair friendly. We saw the majority of the garden in about 2.5 hours strolling, chatting and taking photos.I didn't see any picnic tables, but there are lots of benches throughout. Read moreMy wife and I and our 2-month old came up to the area for the weekend to enjoy ourselves in nature away from the hustle and bustle of big city life. The Azalea Garden was the first green space we visited on our trip and it did not disappoint. The azaleas were obviously not in bloom in late July, but the winding paved paths through the garden (perfect for a stroller!) gave us our first concentrated dose of Piney Woods, Texas.
