We visited as tourists. This is the best park by far in the city. There is a long walking trail (about 8 miles round trip) and there are three sets of swings for the children. There are also covered picnic tables made of stone and two more that are not covered made of steel. This is the busiest and most popular park in the city. I have been here many times. It is very clean. The only drawback is the bathrooms. The permanent structure is made of steel and it is rusting out. The bathrooms need to be torn down and rebuilt. The city has placed portable toilets (outhouses) in several of the parks rather than build permanent structures to repair those that are breaking down. Additionally, none of the water fountains work at the park or along the four mile walking trail. This is a problem at other parks in the city as well. There is plenty of seating at covered and uncovered picnic tables for small parties...

What's really cool about this park is they have baby swings where the adult can swing with them, and they also have a swing for special needs kids. The restrooms are like most park bathrooms, but they are usually clean and stocked. This is a great place to walk your dog, since there are huge fields around the playground and it's the start of the Lanana creek trail. There are several large covered picnic areas with tables you can rent, and plenty of shaded, grassy places to...
Read moreIt was a little hard to give this four stars. Only because I'm a bit sour about the parking. I had to wait around for a parking place and when my daughter and I finally walked to the park there was only 3 other kids there... and the parking lot was FULL. It hit me that SFA students park there for free to walk to their classes. But, certainly not fair to families who actually want to go out and make memories.
As for the ACTUAL park. It was very clean, no liter, and a lot of the play area is shaded. They also have really nice double swings so parents can swing with their little ones. It was a fun...
