We visited as tourists. This is the best park by far in the city. There is a long walking trail (about 8 miles round trip) and there are three sets of swings for the children. There are also covered picnic tables made of stone and two more that are not covered made of steel. This is the busiest and most popular park in the city. I have been here many times. It is very clean. The only drawback is the bathrooms. The permanent structure is made of steel and it is rusting out. The bathrooms need to be torn down and rebuilt. The city has placed portable toilets (outhouses) in several of the parks rather than build permanent structures to repair those that are breaking down. Additionally, none of the water fountains work at the park or along the four mile walking trail. This is a problem at other parks in the city as well. There is plenty of seating at covered and uncovered picnic tables for small parties...

The playground isn't huge, and sometimes it gets a little crowded, but it's well put together and very clean. There is the usual playground equipment, swings, slides, and a playhouse. What's really cool about this park is they have baby swings where the adult can swing with them, and they also have a swing for special needs kids. The restrooms are like most park bathrooms, but they are usually clean and stocked. This is a great place to walk your dog, since there are huge fields around the playground and it's the start of the Lanana creek trail. There are several large covered picnic areas with tables you can rent, and plenty of shaded, grassy places to...

It was a little hard to give this four stars. Only because I'm a bit sour about the parking. I had to wait around for a parking place and when my daughter and I finally walked to the park there was only 3 other kids there... and the parking lot was FULL. It hit me that SFA students park there for free to walk to their classes. But, certainly not fair to families who actually want to go out and make memories.

As for the ACTUAL park. It was very clean, no liter, and a lot of the play area is shaded. They also have really nice double swings so parents can swing with their little ones. It was a fun...

The playground looks like a lot of fun. I almost wish I could be little again. The restrooms looked closed with only one available portable toilet for the public. We came here for a walk so we did not stay long. This is a great spot to get on the trails. We found the trails to be well marked and diverse. One way took us on a wooded path the other way took us across the street to the SFA campus gardens with art work.

This has always been one of my favorite parks in this city. It's big, it has a nice playground, and lots of open fields. My favorite thing though, is it's history. The park was formerly a pecan orchard, and most of the trees have been left. They not only provide shade all day, but during pecan harvesting season the ground is littered with fresh, ripe pecans that fall off the trees.
