I was told by the store owners son that I would be given the amount of what I paid for the guitar and amp I purchased here if I ever decided to trade it back in for store credit. Turns out that was a lie. I tried doing that tonight and I was offered about 20% of what I paid originally. Don’t fall for their lies. They’re not to be trusted. I brought up what I was told and the owner said “well if you were told that it wasn’t right.”
Not only did they lie but they accused me of lying. Do business elsewhere.
In response to the owner or whoever just replied to me:
My wife was there with me when your son told me about the trade in value. She remembers him saying that too.
Also, you had a used amp priced as brand new and I pointed that out to you. It hadn’t recently “gone on sale.”
My father in law is a contractor and has spent thousands of dollars in your store buying tools. That stops after tonight too.
It’s your business. Run it how you want. I’m not going to be lied to and not say anything about it and let other people fall victim to your scam.
The real shame here is that I love supporting mom and pop businesses. Unfortunately they’re becoming less common because of business practices like yours. You can only take people like me for granted for so long. I just ordered the amp off Sweetwater. Brand new for the same price you were charging for a used amp.
Best of luck to you and I hope you make some much needed improvements in the being honest with your customers department.
Also, the original guitar and amp I bought from you cost me $160 combined. You offered me $50 trade in value. Then after I pointed out the brand new amp was $150 on Sweetwater that’s when you dropped the price. There was no discount and there was no offer of 50% of what I paid originally. You’re just lying now.
Hey Craig,
You just said you weren’t there. You have no idea what you’re talking about. Your son told my wife and I that when I bought it. Your son is a liar.
Also, doubling down on lies and accusing a customer of being dishonest is a horrible business practice. Maybe apologize for being your son lying to me and then work on earning my business instead of being insecure about how many similar reviews your business has on here.
Your ego and dishonesty is costing you business. “What can I do to make this right and earn your business” would be great to add to your repertoire.
I apologize for using big words that you’ll definitely have to look up in order to understand this. Sweet water already shipped my brand new amp at the same price you were trying to rip people off for with the used amp that had a couple nicks and dings in...
Read moreBefore I get into this I'm not 1 of those people who expect to get street value for what I'm selling at a pawn shop, ain't gonna happen. Tradeland does have good product there, prices are a bit much on different items. But as usual in any pawn shop and Tradeland is no exception to the rule, they WILL beat you on your stuff if you let them, the only way to not let them is by walking away. I always thought that trading would get you the better deal but I thought WAAAAY WRONG. I brought in a mint condition electric guitar which sells on average $500-$650 used, and you can find them all over the internet with that exact list. I had to look it up myself on my phone for the sales guy because he couldn't find the that model guitar with these exact specs because he really didn't know his guitars. He kept looking at the similar guitar with less features on it which was obviously much cheaper. This went on for about a half hour, very frustrating. So we spent about another half hour (after he figured out what I actually had there) looking for the lowest possible price someone was selling 1 of these for online so he could low ball me as much as possible. I just can't believe they'd waste that much of my time to find a reason to low ball me really bad when they already clearly know now what its worth. Finally he asked me what I wanted in trade, which was a guitar that cost only $179,(obviously I wasn't looking to trade even). Guess what?..He offered me an even trade for mine, I didn't know whether to laugh at him or smack'em (I laughed). So he probably at very very best paid that customer $75 for that guitar, then he's going to pass it off to me for a guitar that sells in good cond. for $600 used. So he was actually in reality getting my guitar for under $100 and if he sold it for way under its sale value at $400 he's making a $300 profit, not to shabby aye. I don't think so, I said thanks for wasting an hour of my time and grabbed my guitar and left. Pretty slick aren't they, this is how pawn shop dirt bags make their money. Don't fall for it and don't waste all that time and aggravation like I did only for someone to try to take total and complete advantage of you. Very bad experience, Stick...
Read moreI have sold and bought many things over the years here, occasionally some staff have been rude and egocentric but I can easily overlook that. This is the coolest second hand store and has a lot to offer. What made me change my rating is I'm not fond of certain business practices they have particularly their layaway on jewelry. I was under the wrong impression that they would let me leave with the wedding band after making a downpayment. They were not transparent enough with me about the layaway policy and I should've asked in the first place because now I feel bad for wasting their time. I came in twice for a white gold wedding band that I really love and when it came to check out after 25 minutes of negotiation they say my card has to be charged 6 bucks for the transaction, I think thats an excessive fee, ATM fees should not exceed more than 3 bucks and most people dont carry cash for big purchases like this to waive that fee. Then I find out that I cant leave with the ring after paying what I felt was a collateral downpayment, when something is collateral we should be able to leave with it, you guys have the ability to throw me in jail god forbid I didn't pay it back, but Im such an honest Catholic I would never screw you guys over like that. You have all of our customer information to bring right to the police if need be, everything is documented for your protection of assets. I think the policy of layaway should be revised. What got me going is Craigs son (who I admire he's a very chill guy) informs me that because I didn't follow thru with the layaway or the full purchase of this expensive item that I would end up losing it as an option to purchase later when I do have the proper funds. That to me was very unfair and unnecessary to propose because that wedding band has been sitting in that display for months and months. Nobody has intended to buy it but me, thus I ask kindly to please hold on to that ring I will buy it when I have the proper funds. The price should not be jacked up just because I couldn't afford it that one day. I will be in asap to buy it but pls all I ask is keep it the...
