I took my brother (who was visiting from Illinois) to lunch at Lui Lui's. It was also my first time dining at Lui Lui's. There was plenty of free parking and after lunch (around 2:00), so there were not many cars.
The atmosphere was pleasant, and the menu was diverse enough to satisfy my vegetarian brother and my carnivorous self. They also offer a LOT of gluten-free items.
We each had lemonade and a glass of water. The glasses were large and ice cold. Very refreshing!
We had fresh crusty bread with olive oil and spices to dip the bread into. I'd had that before years ago, and this was new to my brother. I was happy to find that that was offered here.
The waitress was very pleasant and also very patient. We hadn't been there before and we needed a lot of time to study the menu and then more time to decide what delectable dish to order.
I opted for a garden salad for my side, less any mushrooms, and minus tomatoes. I think my brother had soup?? I can't remember, but regardless of what he ordered for a side, he enjoyed it. I thoroughly enjoyed my fresh, crisp salad as well.
My brother had the LUI PRIMA, and I opted for the EXPRESS LUI LUI. Both were plentiful and delicious!!
We left very full, and my brother took his leftovers for later. He remarked how long it had been since he enjoyed a meal that much because apparently it's hard to find tasty vegetarian meals unless you count puzza. I guess he has his fill of pizza? I ate all of mine! I could have taken some home, but it was just too good to stop eating! If you left hungry, it was your own fault!
I will be going back to Lui Lui's and maybe trying something different, though I enjoyed my choice so much, I am eager to go back for more of the same.
It wasn't busy, so it was very relaxing without the hustle and bustle atmosphere.
Our waitress was very attentive and checked on us often. She even offered us more bread (which my brother was enjoying very much and ate most of it), and we wanted more.
If you are looking for a nice Italian meal, and especially if you require gluten-free choices, I highly recommend Lui Lui's, be you carnivore or vegetarian. I'm looking forward...

The Good: -Very cute place, decorated really cool and homey. A few different floors and heated patio sections to choose from. -Service was great, staff were all pretty young but super nice. -Bread and oil was warm and soft. -Huge portions, lots to choose from
The Bad: -Appetizer combo (meatballs, mozzarella moons, arancini and chicken fingers) - mostly fine, didn’t look super appetizing and wasn’t really sit-down quality to me. The meatballs were kinda gross, mostly because of the sauce. The cheese sprinkled on top looked like it was scraped off bagel bites. -Cranberry Margarita - not horrible but slightly too strong for my wife’s taste. -Buffalo Chicken Mac n Cheese - Didn’t taste like anything at all really. Chicken was cut up chicken tenders, not all of the macaroni even had cheese on it. Chicken Piccata - Also really bland, wife found a hair in it and immediately stopped eating. Caesar Salad - Kinda warm/room temp, also went uneaten after the first few bites. Men’s Bathroom - As soon as you walk in you’re making eye contact through a big gap in the stall door. Door doesn’t close all the way, has a bunch of holes drilled in it, and the lock is barely hanging on for dear life. Fairly certain the guy in the stall before me was an employee (didn’t see him when I returned to the seating area), he did not wash his hands before leaving the restroom.
Between the two of us (two entrees, one drink, one appetizer) it came out to almost $90, which felt a bit ridiculous given the quality. We didn’t even eat most of it because it was so underwhelming or outright bad. Maybe we hit a bad time because it was like 4pm, but neither one of us are ever going back. Tons of half-decent food at a much lower price on the same road, I’d probably even suggest Olive...
Read moreSo many bad things here. Entry is up the steep stairs to a host desk where you wait to be brought to a table. If you're a large party, over 4 people, you'll be placed as we were in a middle of the room. The circle tables have uncomfortable seats. The chairs are awful. Bread rolls were delivered with oil. and the drink request was started. I didn't notice the drinks on the menu so I just ordered a coffee with water since we don't really drink alcohol out at dinner. This eating arrangement is a lot like a hostel would be for sleeping. It's very tight quarters with many tables and the tables are surrounded by booths. I guess if you're a people watcher it works except the people you are watching are watching you back. We hadn't ordered our meal and I already felt uncomfortable. The bread rolls are dense and doughy. At this point i'm just looking for something to smile about. It didn't get better. I ordered chicken Parmesan. The chicken tasted off and the spaghetti was over garlicked and salty. A pizza was ordered and it was ham and pineapple. It had a super thin crust with scarce toppings. It was also scarce on flavor. Pineapple with small pieces of ham saved the taste on that one. The other orders were chicken alfredo and again lacked on size and taste was okay. Okay, it was tiny! I guess the best meal was the chicken tenders kids meal, as my daughter had it and is really particular about her tenders. I didn't get desserts nor ever was offered a refill on coffee or water. For just over $100 dollars I felt ripped off and none of it surprised me given the vibe this place puts off. I tell it like it is and this place Lui Lui has just gotten it all wrong. It's a one time deal, or rather steal! If you do it twice...
