I recommended Barmakians to a friend who is planning to propose to his Girlfriend because, my husband got my ring there, I love it and receive many compliments on it.
Susan assisted us today and honestly she was so unpleasant to work with. She picked out a ring that was similar/better than the photo we showed her. Once we got to discussing details is where everything went down hill. It seemed as though she was treating us as if we weren't serious about buying a ring when we in fact were and were trying to determine which shop he was going to buy from. It probably won't be Barmakians due to this experience. Most of the questions we asked were met with a condescending attitude; a simple question of "How long will it take to get the ring?" led to the response "Well it has to be made, so about 3-4 weeks" again, said with an attitude. There was no time frame that it needed to be made, we were aware the ring needed to be made, we were just asking a question. That was just one example. When asked what size diamond we were looking at we said between 1-2 carats, Susan proceeded to bring us 1.5 and up, She may have just misheard us but with how unpleasant she was it came off as if she was trying to sell us a bigger diamond so the commission was better. Again this instance could have just been her mishearing us.
The man that was the one buying the ring was very nervous which is why he brought us along and all Susan did was put a bad taste in our mouth due to her attitude. He probably came off as aloof but in fact he was just that stressed. Deciding to propose is a huge stressor and shouldn't be met with the condescending attitude. I can't say I'll be recommending Barmakians either, or at least if I do I would recommend to not...
I've had a wonderful experiences with Barmakian Jewelers. I have both a wedding band and anniversary band from them. Both rings remain to be in amazing shape with no problems.
My husband also bought me an additional diamond ring from another establishment. The diamond has been rocking back and forth in the setting and has been repaired by another jeweler two times in the past year. Upon visiting Barmakian and having my rings cleaned, a team member showed me how the stone had been improperly reset by the other jeweler in hoped of resolving my problem. i think deep down I knew something was off with the original repair work. The Barmakian employee explained how they would be able to properly fix the setting of the main stone and that the prior work was probably just done by a lesser experienced jeweler. I paid Barmakian to fix the ring and they did a SUPERB job. I can visually see now that the stone is set properly and the main diamond is no longer moving in the setting. In addition, the repair work at Barmakian was 75% less than what I paid for the prior repair and the turn around time was faster.
Barmakian's offers a very luxurious experience and I have had professional encounters with all their team members over the years. I believe that their prices are very competitive in the market and that the quality of jewelry they offer is superior to many other local establishments IMO.
This last experience of mine which included the repair of the diamond ring mentioned above (which was not purchased from them), has solidified me as a lifelong Barmakian customer. I appreciate them going above and beyond to resolve my problem and the transparency they offered was refreshing. I highly recommend them for both purchasing...
Read moreTerrible experience I did not expect from such a reputable jeweler. l’ve dealt with Barmakian in the past and had great interactions with the sales team each time. So naturally they were my first choice when the time came to look at engagement rings with my girlfriend. Where do I begin…we arrived and were told to wait 10 to 15 minutes for the next available salesperson. Not a problem, I understand they may not have enough staff to deal with the influx of engagement ring shoppers on a Saturday. Unfortunately, We ended up waiting closer to an hour despite the constant reassurance that it would only be a couple minutes longer. When the time came to meet with our sales person, he seemed completely un-interested in us. He didn’t ask if there were any specific rings we wanted to see. Additionally, when we told him what we were looking for he advised that no such rings were available. All of this despite the fact that we had seen several rings that fit the description we had given. Clearly he did not feel that we were worth his time. What’s even more frustrating is the fact that I had previously gone in and met with another salesperson who is incredibly accommodating and pleasant to deal with. I was using this visit as an opportunity to determine whether or not I should go with Barmakian or Long’s jewelers right across the street. Additionally, my girlfriend was excited at the prospect of having her engagement ring made by an Armenian-owned jeweler as she is Armenian herself. We ended up leaving and going to Long’s where we had a far...
