Red Bird Market — Attraction in National City

I have been shopping at this market for years, and all the prices have gone up, but come on around here, where hasn't it? Their meat selection continues to be top-notch, their prepared carne asada, the clean, lean ground beef is extremely worth it if you are planning to enjoy a delicious meal. I hate shopping at big stores because of the amount of people, parking, customer service, and gas, so for me anyway, the extra couple of bucks I spend at the store are very well worth it. Best corner market I’ve ever seen. These people really care about their customers. I go there daily, and see the same neighborhood folk there time and again; very friendly environment. The owner Laith is there every day of the year, and Lupe is too... that pair are probably the hardest working retailers around. The store is always well-stocked with quality products, and if you have any concerns, they bend over backwards to get you set. Red Bird is a community icon on Highland you have to experience it...

I don't know how this place is so highly rated. I ordered from here through Doordash and the food we received was obviously old. The barbacoa was dry despite arriving in a cup of oil/ grease. The rice was definitely old. The beans were OK at best. Salsa was trash. The tortillas were the best part of the meal. We put some butter on them and ate that for dinner instead.
