I should have trusted the other reviews on Keely. Last week I called to made an appointment for a wash/blowout with application of clip-in extensions and I was quoted $45. Well a few days after being charged $65 I called to ask why. I was told that a standard blow-out was $45 and the additional $20 was applied by the stylist for extra styling i.e. flat irons, curling or “just a big head of hair that needs extra time”. Okay, so maybe the first receptionist quoted me wrong but the insult to injury comes from the stylist, Keely. I had my hair blown out straight and 3 tracks (1x back and 2x sides) put in. Along with a miriade of unsolicited advice thrown my way, my stylist Keely made a point to tell me that “I should really see a doctor for my thinning hair”. Now this is probably TMI for a review, but I deal with genetic hair loss and have been under medical advice for 5+ years - thus the extensions for density for… my wedding rehearsal. That’s right, this lovely comment, along with others, was thrown my way as I was getting ready to stand in front of 100+ people. Talk about a confidence booster! Now to play devils advocate, she clearly has terrible bedside manner and I probably should have said something to the receptionist when I was checking out. But the irony that I was rudely told I have no hair on my head and then charged an additional $20 for extra styling to put in 3x tracks of hair is not lost on me. Word to the wise, maybe look elsewhere when planning for...
Read moreI had a touch-up balayage by Keeley recently and what her other one-star reviewer said is true. She is not personable, she rushed my services and did a bad job on the color and the styling. I left with my hair looking like a brassy blonde wet rat nest. She started by openly rushing to do the work, was very rough with my head and neck as she yanked me back to apply product, absolutely does NOT know how to style curly hair even though she said she did (rough towel dry, no conditioner or leave in, raked it with a brush not a comb while wet and not conditioned, and roughly handled and diffused for all of 5mins), and rushed me out of the chair. Worst of all she did not let my hair process long enough so when I went home and restyled it myself, I learned how disappointed I was with the color. My previous color is not blended with the new. I have splotchy tones of brassy gold and bits that are platinum. As she escorted me to the front to pay and welcome her next client, she was pushy about making me say I liked it, about scheduling a trim and about purchasing product. It was at that point that I learned my hair had not even been properly conditioned because she told me what she used on me, only shampoo and a 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioner.
I do like the OI shampoo and conditioner I ultimately purchased however. When I used the conditioner at home it was very nice and left my hair feeling soft. Too bad she hadn’t used it on me...
Read moreOctober 20, 2018 Drove all the way from Mandeville to have my hair cut at this salon. I decided to give it a try when I accidentally came across this place when I was in the area. I thought the atmosphere had a cool vibe in a charming Victorian home that was converted into a salon. The stylists appeared as though they would be experienced with the latest trends which is what made me willing to drive so far from where I live. I went with the idea of cutting my medium length hair to a medium graduated bob. I walked out with basically a shorter version of what I had. There was no graduation in length, basically the same length all the way around. Nothing like the 5 photos that I showed the stylist. I rated this place 3 stars because even though it was nothing near what I asked for, it wasn't a bad style, and the price was reasonable. I also failed to let her know that I wasn't happy because she had another client waiting, and I didn't have the time to have her redo it, nor was I willing to drive back another day (I live an hour away). To me, I could've had the same cut that I received yesterday with any salon in the Mandeville area. It was definitely not worth the drive! The next day I went to a salon in my area to get exactly what I wanted, unfortunately I had to pay full...
