The stay was interesting but GREAT. Staff was very helpful from start to finish. The beds were comfortable. Pool and hot tub was so beautiful and a fantastic bonus after a long, hot day of walking. Unfortunately the tiki bar was not open but we got to hang out on the rooftop patio. Often we had the rooftop to ourselves, which is ideal for an introvert like me. Weirdly, there is no housekeeping service…we stayed for a week and the cleaning didn’t occur until checkout. I was unable to find this info on any of my booking confirmations or the website. I know some may want to know this, which is why I’m sharing. We could care less. The staff said they would service the room upon request but we did not require it. Upon arrival we didn’t have access to the hotel. We could not get into the lobby without a code, which the self checkout wouldn’t provide until 30 min before check-in. I’m so glad I opted for early check-in. TO NOTE: I did not see a door bell until the next day, I may have had access to lobby, had I pushed the doorbell. Instead we waited outside for a while with all our luggage until staff saw us waiting outside. It was a long flight and a little inconvenient to wait outside with luggage. We stayed during French Quarter festival. Streets were loud! Loud things included people driving by with way too loud of music, jazz bands on the street and fire station across the street. It would have kept me awake but I came prepared with ear plugs and I stayed on an interior room, away from the streets. My room didn’t even had windows, which I preferred. There were cockroaches outdoors but I hear this is a natural thing in Louisiana and has nothing to do with the hotel. I never saw any in the room! I don’t think the hotel can do anything about what occurs outdoors. This was just a bit of a culture shock for me but I got over it. Feedback for the hotel: more mirrors, preferably in the bedrooms. It was hard to share small bathroom mirror with two females staying. Secure the closet curtain rod, it fell on me...

Room wasn't cleaned once in our 5 day stay. After the 3rd day, called to request the room be cleaned (as the front desk person was rarely there). When I returned later that night, the dirty towels had been taken and not replaced and the room was not cleaned one bit - garbage still full, bed not made. Had to walk down to the lobby and walked to the laundry room with the desk manager for a few towels. Bathroom had a broken ventilation fan and the window didn't open - which makes the bathroom smell like mildew all the time. 2 inch gap underneath the front door could let any bugs or mice in, luckily this didn't happen. Door barely closed and locked. Asked for 12pm checkout the day before at the front desk, upon checkout morning someone banged (loudly) on our door at 11am and yelled "CHECKOUT!", so obviously my asking for late checkout went nowhere and either the front desk or cleaning staff has absolutely no manners whatsoever. Upon checking out, I asked the desk manager to hold our bags for 3 hours until we had to leave for the airport. She said they didn't have room and I could "leave them there if I wanted". So I had to argue my case to hold two suitcases in this "hotel". My fault for expecting a hotel to hold luggage for a few hours, I guess. In general, yes the music in the area is quite loud into the night, but we expected this. If you have earplugs and aren't directly on the street, it's really not a big issue. This is a fun, lively neighborhood, so it's fun to be super close to the action. In general, this was probably the worst hotel experience I've ever had. The staff, when they are there, are basically just security guards in the lobby. There were some rooms on the ground floor being renovated, but our room was long and dangerously overdue for rehab. We won't be...
Read moreThe Frenchmen Hotel is a must for anyone keen on exploring the cultural scene in New Orleans, without any of that trashy chaos of Bourbon Street. We also found it extremely affordable for what you're getting. If you're looking for a quaint spot at the edge of the French quarter, in walking distance to virtually everything, with all the jazz, blues, deep roots, and southern cuisine that Frenchmen Street has to offer, then this is the place for you. There's a gorgeous pool under an open sky available to patrons at all times, the staff are very attentive and kind, and the rooms are fun and clean. The only thing to be aware of (and they'll be the first to tell you via text message in advance of your stay): it is very loud right up until around 12am for most nights, and up to 3am on Friday and Saturday night. But if you're willing to plan around that rather than resist it, you'll be fine! You're on vacation in NOLA for goodness sakes! Live a little.
Additional notes: Our room had a mini fridge stocked with cans of beer, but we don’t drink. Some non-alcoholic options would have been appreciated. There was also a basket of snacks, condoms, and other treats available for purchase on top of the mini fridge. The shower was clean and very functional, with soaps, shampoos, and lotions full stocked. Lots of towels in all shapes and sizes. The beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows. Each bed also had a bedside table with lamps and power bars with USB outlets. The room was also equipped with cable TV and a cute little radio.
We heard from other patrons that the Tikki bar was world class (not sure what that means), but as we don’t drink we...
