Located in the quaint Faubourg Marigny, only a small distance from the FC, is this bar, The Spotted Cat Music Club. It boasts custom cocktails and different kinds of brewed beer. It also boasts live music. You might have noticed that I rated this business as a 2/5... This comes with just cause. The cocktails are poured way too heavily. Cocktails aren't meant to be piured this way. They're meant to have an overall balanced flavour. This wasn't achieved here. If you want to get absolutely hammered, then this place beckons you to come hither. If you're looking for quality and well rounded taste, then look elsewhere. Now let's talk about the music... As a musician myself, the band playing today was mediocre at best. The piano sounded like a 2 year old that just discovered a piano makes noise... There was no rhyme nor rhythm. Just some dude pounding away like it sounded good when in reality it was just coke nails scratching away at a chalkboard, not too dissimilar from the scene in "A Nightmare On Elm Street". The Sax was alright though. The general beat was generally mediocre. To my knowledge, there wasn't any food available... But I also didn't ask. I was just there for drinks. Now for the staff... Very kind, but too heavy handed with the 'hol. Perhaps more training is needed in mixing cocktails. Can't fault them for that necessarily, as it's the owner's job to ensure proper prep of cocktails to ensure quality. The venue is small and gets really packed. It is pretty hard to push through all the people just to make way to the bar and get a drink. A lot of unwanted touching to say the least. I myself didn't pay a cover charge, but this is probably because myself and the others who I was with, were sitting outside and enjoying the "fresh" air of NOLA...
In short after the long, if you want to get hammered with low quality drinks at a premium price, then this is the place. The overall cost was ridiculous though. I paid $80 for 6 drinks. In all honesty, that's way too much. That essentially amounts to $13/drink. That's too expensive for low quality drinks. I've had way better...
