ABS DMV Services — Attraction in New York

FULL REVIEW: I wanted to wait until my entire transaction was complete, (meaning car registration, AND title in hand) before I gave a detailed review. So here is my honest unbiased review of ABS DMV Services.

PROS: Expedience - I was literally in and out of the office inside of 5 minutes. I’ve never had that experience in a traditional DMV office. I went in on 12.04.2020 to hand in my paper work, and received a text message THE NEXT day that my plates were ready, (it should be noted that the following day was a Saturday)

Personal Touch - By the time I received the message, the office was closed, but I took a shot anyway and went. I’d noticed that there were a few people still inside, (none were customers) and I was extended the courtesy of them opening up the door for me, (while their office was closed) and handed me my registration and plates. That alone takes their customer service over the top in my experience.

Going The Extra Mile - I’d notice that it was taking a long time for my title to come in, so I reached out to ABS to check, and they were at the ready to investigate for me.

CONS: Transparency - There are additional fees associated with their transaction which was not disclosed initially, so when I received my registration, the cost of registering my car versus the cost for their process was a noticeable difference, one that made me give them a 1 ⭐️ in the beginning. Had they been upfront with all fees, I wouldn’t have had an issue. To their credit, they reached out to me and explained why they added the additional fees.

They only take cash - That was slightly bothersome for me, especially in COVID season when you’re trying to limit paper money contact. I found it strange that they only took cash, but it’s their rule.

CONCLUSION: You Get What You Pay For - You’re gonna be charged a premium for their service, definitely way more expensive than the DMV. However, there’s no obscene wait in the line, they’re very professional, they follow up if there’s an issue and turn around time is swift. For those enhanced features, you’re gonna pay a premium. For only taking cash, and not being upfront with additional fees I was tempted to bump them down to a 4 ⭐️ but they made up for these issues through proper customer service and following up. You can always make an appointment with the DMV and wait a few weeks to get things rectified if you’re looking to save a couple hundred dollars, but if you’re looking for expedience, and way less headache, in my experience ABS...

I came here around December of 2019, I was trying to get plates for my car and I was under a lot of pressure from other things that was going on at that time but I still managed to be reasonable. I came here 2 separated times, the first time the guy told me that he couldn't get me my plates because he needed something the bill of sales. So I got the bill of sales for the 2nd day that I came and there was another issue because of what was missing on the bill of sales. The other guy that was there previously says, "You had an attitude and that's not how you conduct business". First and foremost, I explained that I had other things that was going on so if you can't do your job without taking everything personal then you shouldn't be in business especially when I could've just save $75+ by just going to the DMV which I did instead of returning back here. I did not appreciate being accused of an attitude just because I'm being myself. And so what if was stressed? We all have situations and and bad days but you're not going to bully me from being myself just because you're sensitive. I didn't have to smile every second around you just because you hate attitudes. I conducted myself well and you or whoever was there should've did the same. If you cannot consider that someone may be dealing with something which I was then you shouldn't be doing any customer service job especially when your job was a thousand times easier than my customer service job driving...

ABS DMV Services renders genuine five star service. I could not believe that a quiet smell like oned business could render such timely and professional service. I did leave my frustration of going to Motor vehicles downtown Brooklyn, was given such a respectable timely service, the service was referred in respect and care for my needs, I felt important. I took a seat to see if all who entered was served as I was, for example, two concession (white), young women came and was treated as I was treated, a Hispanic male came in and was treated the same as we were treated, and Yong black men came in representing different sunsets of black culture and all was treated in the above mentioned. We all were made to feel that we are all equally important to them and the service they rendered towards meeting our needs, they also provides a courtesy call to you letting you know exactly what time you can come in to pick up your items what a relief to go to a small black service where all are catered to. Some small black business owners should just pop in at ABS DMV Services and learn how to serve all who walked through their doors in need of quality professional services with a Caribbean flavor.
