Betty Carter Park — Attraction in New York

Since my childhood in Fort Greene, BAM has been an integral part of my life in the community. Now, as a Homeschooling parent, BAM is an important part of my 16- year old daughter's life. Their educational programs are second to none.

Every Halloween since my daughter was seven years old, we have joyfully, with rapt anticipation, enjoyed the BAMboo Festival. My commute lies through this park everyday. It's so much better after the renovation. It used to be closed for public access and the area around it, was so crumped. People waiting for a bus and ascending from Subway had to jump over each other. The problem is that the kids from the near by school use this square to smoke weeds. Almost every time I pass by, I see a group gathering around the joint. I have nothing against a good blunt, but isn't it weird, that school kids smoke up and trash this nice little park. Somebody has to do something about it....

It is an archival institution flipped through static pictures of lived experience and someone will think that they don't have esthetic values or notions of artistic beauty such as a picture of fighting a friend for a lady , a stage of crying as embracing a mother dying , a photo of living in a country village harvesting herbs.
