An award-winning restoration from a 1904 playhouse, The Harvey is a bold theater venue.
Former Executive Producer Harvey Lichtenstein discovered what would become the Harvey Theater when looking for a new kind of venue for Peter Brook's eight-hour production of The Mahabharata. The award-winning renovation that followed beautifully preserved the deconstructed feels of the space, resulting in a striking theater with the ambience of a timeless ruin. The Harvey has since served as the unique setting for major stage and broadcast productions. The Harvey Theater recently underwent a renovation and expansion as a part of the BAM Strong, which also features the brand new Rudin Family Gallery and the Robert W. Wilson Sculpture Terrace.

Read moreBeautiful theater that was acquired by the Brooklyn Academy of Music about 20 years ago. Named for former executive producer Harvey Weinstein, the Harvey is a stunning and modern theater. The interior, though, was kept purposely "in ruins" with peeling paint, exposed bricks, and oxidized metal doors. There are three tiers. I prefer orchestra, of, course, but if the tickets are too expensive i opt for the upper tier (as opposed to the rear orchestra). Not only is it cheaper but you get a view of the stage from above (but not too elevated). Much cheaper tickets can be had by purchasing those with obstructed views. These seats are barely obstructed and are a well worth the discounted price....
Read moreCame to see Safety Not Guaranteed at the Harvey Theater, seated at the balcony. The staff was very helpful in finding our places. BAM theaters always dazzle me with their beautiful architecture. My main complaint was the narrowness of the seating rows: the seats are very tall and even have feet support (which was appreciated), but the narrowness of the rows make it extremely difficult for people to pass through when they want to use the bathroom, etc. So, if you do have to get things done before the show starts, I would highly recommend doing it before sitting down, to make things easier for both yourself, and...
