New York State DMV - Brooklyn (Atlantic Ave Center) — Local services in New York

Well to begin with I came in on the last Saturday that they were taking appointments walked in early for my appointment but still had to wait on a long line .. and heard a customer service lady screaming at some man to the point where everyone was like what's going on..he didn't understand that he didn't have the right document and wanted to go pick it up real quick he lived close by but they told him no an they made a announcement saying. .. We're not giving out any come back papers we don't care if you live across the street..up the block or around the corner your going to have to make another appointment mind you the DMV in Coney Island gave return papers for the same day..well once I got up there I gave them all my information took my picture so far they were at least a lil friendly but the whole time I was there the workers kept complaining that they were tired and wanted to go home..so after I took the picture thinking everything was ok ..I had to give my documents to this sour face light skin lady that even when I said GM she just smirks and was just rude and had a nasty attitude and her facial expression showed that she didn't wanna be there..well after she scanned my stuff she was like I can't expect your id so I didn't know what she meant so I said I don't understand why I gave you everything and I'm just trying to get the real id..she was like ughhh I don't understand why you don't understand what I'm saying..boyyy... I didn't wanna get upset but I was trying to explain that the other I'd I had was expired so she's like ok but do you have I said yes I didn't know I needed to bring it she started making a nasty disgusting face like I was bothering her just because I'm trying to understand why my id wasn't good.. well long story short after she had a nasty unpleasant and unprofessional attitude problem and her vibes and aura was so horrible I will never go back there again..if everyone ever gets this cold unprofessional nasty attitude light skin lady that works in the front when you gotta pay .. just let the next person go cause I kid you not I've never met someone so rude and was making it seem like I was stupid because I didn't understand what she was saying you'd be better off ..her entire energy was horrible especially working with the public and her customer service is terrible..I left out like I know she's miserable lol but I'll never go there again.. and p.s they were all dressed like they were running to the corner store so...

I rarely leave reviews, but this DMV honestly has the worst workers. For starters, the security guy by the main entrance was very rude to me when I was entering (but was so kind to the white people in front of me… hmmm). I then go in and fill out the form to upgrade my Id card, check in and wait to be called. I get called and have my photo taken and then am told to sit and wait to be called again. I WAIT FOR OVER AN HOUR to be called again only to be told to come back.

The woman at window 30 seemed nice but seemed to be trying everything to hold me back from getting my Enhanced ID. She asked if I have my social, I said yes. She then examines it and keeps cringing because a part of the top is beat up. I told her yes, I know. The card is the original from the 80s when I was born so it’s very old, I never got a new one and it’s never been a problem before. She then asks for my birth certificate in a way as if she thinks I would not have one, strange. I give it to her and then give her my ID. She asks if I have a second proof of address and I pull out my voters ID card, she says no. I pull out a letter from the DMV, she said no they don’t accept that. I pulled out a credit card statement and she said no they don’t accept that. I tell her that I was told they DO accept credit card statements and then she changes her tune while looking zoned out and says yes they do. I tell her well this one is a credit card statement like I said the first time, and she takes it and starts examining it. After this she starts to harp on the condition of the social security card, and asks her coworker if she thinks it will get accepted. Her coworker said yes, she’s seen worse get accepted and you can tell it is what it is, a social security card. She still harps on it and then calls over the manager and asks if she thinks it will be approved. The manager said no, they only accept pristine documentation. I was told they could not submit that social security card and I need to get a new one and then come back. 2 hours of my life wasted.

My issue is I know people whose birth certificates were ripped etc. and still were able to use them. I know people who used their voter ID as proof of address. I know people who used old beat up social security cards and were fine. I’m sick of the picking and choosing with each person. Be consistent.

3/15/2025 12 o'clock appointment it was crowded, I just wanted say miss Williams who works at receptionist was very helpful, pleasant, patient, kind and professional, thank very much ! Told me to see if I could get a seat instead of waiting on long line due to me walking around with cane, now going to line for pic's was too long I am disabled and their were other disabled older people on line we ask if they had a line for us disabled, elderly people and the security guard who was sitting on a desk , said no and he can't do anything about it, so folks started telling him to go talk to a supervisor or floor worker because she me has cane she can't wait on this long line and others are here with cane. He ignored us and so strangers went to workers and asked for help, God bless them 🙏🏽 I was in pain so I thank God! Floor Worker rush me to window she was very polite, nice, hard worker they really kept it organized and people calm , but a supervisor jumps out the office and makes a scene yelling who told us to come over here! Wasn't polite at all! Not humble! they really need accessible lines for older and disabled people! will be getting in touch with accessibility complain board.. I can't believe it I lived here for 60 years, work for the city 35 years, bought passport, old learners permit, all the documents and SS had a stain, but you can see the numbers and my name, gave me such a hard time! So I could not get my real id, and it wasn't the worker at the window she was very nice it was the supervisor and when I pdf my W2 form they gonna say it looks like a copy ! It said pdf file! I am threw! FL nor Delaware have these issues, I ready to leave NYC! May 17,2018 Went to take Lerners permits test at the downtown bk location got there almost 10am was out at 11:00am the employees there was quick, professionals,and polite! I was nervous people were saying long wait and rude so i bought snacks lol .Nope it was the opposite ! Thanks for making my day pleasant, Keep up the good work! I know hw it can be i am a city worker and its not always easy dealing...
