I came here on a Friday night (June 5 of 2015) and had a thoroughly atrocious experience. I stood in line and the lady checking people out told us curtly that the line was ending. When a man came up behind me I told him it was closed. The guy then went to the staff member nearby, and that staff member (Wanda M.) said it was in fact open. I went over to Wanda and politely asked her to coordinate better. She then threw a tantrum, rolling her eyes and saying "I'm not doing this right now," as it she would otherwise pick a fight. Wow! That's no way to treat a paying customer, or anyone else. I refuse to be sassed at.
Wanda then took over the stand and the original staff member walked away, laughing and rolling her eyes at me. How outrageous for two employees to treat me with such contempt. Perhaps they get no discipline from their managers, or perhaps they're always that way and no one speaks up. They're an absolute embarrassment to the Target brand if they acted that way in front of most managers they'd be fired. Now I understand why some people only make the minimum wage!
I spoke with a manager and she said she would so care of it. Hollow consolation.
Target as a whole is among my favorite stores. It was my regular place in Seattle, and I took advantage of the 5% RED Card discount. That admiration hasn't translated to New York.
Besides the awful experience with Wanda, staff members get real pushy with their carts. Apparently they fail utterly to stock overnight so they parade new stock around, with shoppers as obstacles. Where is the planning? Logistics plz.
Not five minutes into my trip a lady pushed a cart around a corner, pausing with a mildly annoyed look without apologizing or retreating. Another guy pushed a stack of carts down a upper-floor aisle. Why they needed carts on that level remains a great mystery of the Universe. A guy on the lower floor pushed a stock across the store -- be there any other time to do this?
Shoppers get pushy too. A couple kids were also running down the aisles.
I found the water bottles in the kind of disarray you'd see on Black Friday. Matched to the wrong price, with several varieties mixed in a single slot. No way to parse through it, so I ended up sifting and rearranging them even further. Disorder breeds more of itself.
The bottles were also pretty embarrassing. Most were plastic, and we have yet to know even a fraction of what goes into them. (BPA is one of countless chemicals they use, many of which have never been tested for safety). Most were dead ugly, with tacky chrome-y finishes. Some were plain silly, like the caricature of a Mason jar with a straw in it. I picked up an Aladdin Thermos knockoff, which in the end was a very stupid idea because it was massive and because the double locking mechanism required twenty seconds of work just to get a good drink.
Their umbrella aisle was also wiped completely clean on the day of a rain storm. They need to get better about their inventory. You can predict these things.
They do have a restroom and water fountain, so have no shame in taking advantage there. Just don't buy anything.
It's the only Target that's easily accessible from the busy parts of NYC. Since it's so awful, it looks like I won't be shopping at any Target for...
Read moreI am absolutely appalled by the customer service from a Target employee and the third-party vendor employees in the electronics/mobile department at this Target. I met my friend after work, who was intending to purchase the Meta glasses. He had already visited another Target, where he was told they were out of stock and directed to the Atlantic Mall location, which supposedly had three available.
When I arrived, my friend was upset with the way he was treated by both a Target employee and a third-party vendor employee. I witnessed the interaction when he asked to see the Meta glasses on display. The male Target employee had the audacity to speak in a condescending tone, saying, “Those are just empty boxes.” I felt a surge of anger at his disrespectful behavior..
My friend, remaining calm, attempted to explain to the young lady with glasses (the third-party vendor employee) that she was showing him the wrong item. Both she and the male Target employee were dismissive and aggressive, which only further frustrated him. He asked to speak with a manager, and the young lady retorted, “Well, I don’t work for Target, so you can speak with a manager here.” This was unacceptable; clearly, we needed to address this situation with both the Target and vendor managers.
After a wait of about 5-10 minutes, another employee arrived to mediate. When the male Target employee returned, he gave my friend an unsettling glare. My friend then pointed out the poor attitude of the third-party vendor employee, emphasizing that in his own program, none of his employees would treat customers like that. She ignored him, absorbed in her phone.
Both employees had a tendency to talk “at” my friend rather than “to” him, which is completely unacceptable. Ultimately, we met with an Executive Team Leader (ETL) who was professional and genuinely helpful. She led us to the display with the Meta glasses and made an effort to assist us, although they did not have the type or color my friend wanted. She mentioned that if we had made a purchase, we could fill out a survey. Additionally, she acknowledged that there was a significant miscommunication between the vendor and Target, and that the male employee had a history of complaints regarding his attitude (and is a new employee).
It's incredibly frustrating to encounter such poor customer service when all we wanted was quality assistance. I will be filing a formal complaint with Target because it infuriates me when employees act as if they are doing customers a favor, all while displaying a negative attitude and lack of knowledge. This behavior is unacceptable and needs to...
Read moreThe worst experience shopping at this target with my handicap mom they did not have no motor carts for my mom who is handicap so my mom had to force herself to walk with her Walker. The first thing i try doing was talking to a security guard asking him do you have any motor carts available he said no we dont then i said are you sure cause its against the law to not have a motor cart for the handicap. So i asked to speak to a manager and the manager never came down to see us. The security guard said that all motor carts were stolen smh mind you this place is a mall with top so call security guards. Now my mom cant walk today at all thanks to this target for not having at lease one motor cart for the handicap and my mom spent 400$ at this place cause we had no choice. Never again will i ever go back to this target. In fact for all handicap people and the elderly keep in mind there is no motor carts available ever we waited around to speak to a manager for over 20 mins standing in front next to the security guard. This target needs a reality check by law and by top officials/owners at this Target. I also lost my money going back and forth going crazy looking for a motor cart so whoever found 400$ enjoy it. They also closed the gate at the cross tunnel from the parking lot building so we had to go down from the target building and i had to walk to get my car by crossing the street to drive back to target to pick up my mom with big bags. The very worst experience i ever had shopping at target with my mother who was also very very upset with lots and lots of pain and target didn't even care at all ! #0 zero...
