Where do I begin?! I'm a natural black woman who had an amazing fro and needed a new look. My husband had referred me, so I made an appointment. I was looking to have a new and funky look such as a mohawk or Pixy cut. I was not asked of my natural hair routine nor what products I used( what make my curls pop?!) My stylist Robert picked at my hair, which in the natural hair routine is a definite No! After my wash he tugged and pulled harshly, so I'm not happy with an aching scalp!!! He began to cut and did not give me a fade I had asked for. I had hair all over me, he had washed my hair that was already washed and then did a twist out. After I stayed under the dryer, he seen my twist were not dry but continue to take them all out. My hair was a total hot mess. I left with a puffy fro no style, plus I had no fade or line up... Basically I was looking a hot mess!!! I still had hair all over my face & neck. I was charged $150 but was told when I scheduled an appointment it would be $85! I had drove 1 1/2 hours to get to this location and had to run home and wash and redue my hair. Im now in a scarf on a Saturday night when I should have been ready for a night out! I now have to go to a barber to get a hookup and soon a proper fade this week. When dealing with natural hair their are rules and routine to accomplish the length and beauty of our root's, which is not meant for just anyone. So when we look to accomplish a new look to feel diversity, we should not be set back with such disturbance! I'm convince this salon only is able to deal with perms and weaves Wich help women cover up and be able to manage their true black beauty. Basically don't believe the hype!!!... It's a shame they get off using Beyonce and whomever to be known as someone when they don't really know Black beauty! I basically paid $150 for a cut and stlye I had to fix. I should've went to a professional barber. Not happy at all and realized if it's not weave or perms, we as natural black women have no support and struggle to find a break in change with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI first went to this salon sometime Oct2021, the owner gave me an amazing silk press. Second time two weeks later with a different stylist was a miss, so I stopped going for a while. Later I decided to try again and the salon had a price increase but it wasnāt that much, so I started going back 2x a month again(Iām heat trained and hate doing my own hair). My last three appointments were with a new stylist there who actually does do a great job. Second to last appointment he was kind of pushy about a steamer treatment and my bill was a little more which was no big deal($215). Their steamer is kind of cheap and drips a lot but my hair looked great so I didnāt care. FYI I get all receipts sent to my phone.
But my last(and final) appointment 2 weeks later was just a basic silk press, no extras, no steamer, etc and the total was $225. Iād been there for 3 hours so I was over it/paid/tipped(20%) and left, but on my way home I checked the receipt from 2 weeks ago. Based on my last visit with the steamer($20 extra according to their booking app) my total was $30 dollars more than it should have been. And when I had gone to the desk to pay I remember I actually had to wait a bit/he made some show about not being able to find and write down my invoice on a real receipt, so in retrospect it was kind of shady, and no my hair didnāt grow 5 inches in 2 weeks to justify a longer hair charge.
So, I actually called later and asked the receptionist about the bill mistake and she promised to call back or have him call me and clear it up. Did anyone call? Nope.
My first and last appointments were the same basic silk presses. First appointment with the owner was $100. Last appointment was $225. Do they do a great job? Sure. Is it worth a 125% price...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was an awful experience. There isn't an option for a "0" star review and I believe this place deserves that. I had a nail appointment at 6PM and knowing that I was going to be 15 minutes late, I called the salon at 5:33. I spoke to the receptionist and was told that I would be charged a late fee which I was okay with. I got to the salon at 614, at which point I was directed to go upstairs where the nail tech was. Since she was in the middle of doing someone else's nails, I said hello and reminded her that I previously called and advised the receptionist that I would be late. She very nastily said that she wasn't told any of that and if she had, she would've told me not to show up. She added that I should come back and I reminded her that I live in Jersey and would not be able to. She then agreed to do my nails and said I should wait for her and turned away. Nonetheless, I proceeded to take a seat downstairs. I was sitting for 10 minutes when the receptionist approached me and said that she was here to make my next appointment. I was confused as I already discussed with the nail person and she told me to wait for her. The nail tech then came over and said that she could not do my nails and that I should come back, after I've told her that I had a wedding that weekend and that I also live in Jersey. So many basic professional and customers service rules were broken with me. The receptionist was incompetent and the nail tech was just downright disrespectful. I cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment to any...
