I have the green membership for Blink Fitness so it gives me access to every location. I'm choosing to review this location first because it's closest to home for me since I only take a single, 15 minute bus ride from home to this location. I don't think it's as bad as everyone else claims it to be, but there are areas for improvement and some guidelines for others to have a more fulfilling time at the gym.
For starters I'm not knocking the place for having cardio machines taking half of the gym place, I do start off with a brisk 20-30 minute jog on the treadmill but they could use some more machines for building the legs and quads. They only got 4 leg press machines and not only they get occupied quickly, people tend to do super sets on them with some lasting as long as a half hour. I'm not in the business of waiting for a machine of limited quantity to become free of use so maybe 2 or 3 more leg press machines, especially when the place gets busy would be great. Yesterday when I came to this place, all of the machines were finally in working order but I do have to address how slow the upkeep on some of the machines are. I don't know how long it takes for them to get fixed but I'm pretty sure it shouldn't last a week and it would be ideal if the employees don't slack off too much and have more faulty machines pile up on that "to fix list".
I've come around here long enough to have an understanding of how packed the place can get at any given time. If you want to have as many options available at the gym, best to go there early, notably around opening time to 1 PM on the weekdays because the Afternoons and Evenings can get filled up fast. The weekends have an even shorter range of free time with the gym getting heavy with people as soon as 11:30 AM. I haven't had any issues with anybody in the gym but it does get bothersome when you have an idea of what machine you want to use only for someone to be in the middle of a superset and even worse when someone else is waiting behind that person.
Crowdedness and slow maintenance aside, It's a good spot to kill some time to build your frame or your endurance, plus the staff are...

It's genuinely disheartening to witness a consistent cycle of broken equipment week after week. The treadmill debacle, as highlighted by others, is nothing short of exasperating. Over three-quarters of the treadmills are in a state of disrepair. The incline do not even work, some of them are literally on life support and sound like they are literally about to fall apart with every step, for some of them the speed is inaccurate. One leg equipment has been literally out of service for months. There isn't even enough bars for adding plates. Every since one of them has been taken out from the deadlift section, people take the bar from the bench to do deadlifts. So now if you decide to do bench you will find a bench with no bars. The list of complaints for the condition of the equipment's is endless.
The list of grievances regarding the condition of the equipment feels never-ending. The gym boasts a considerable customer base, making it perplexing as to why the upkeep of the equipment remains so egregiously poor. It's especially frustrating given the exorbitant annual fees we are required to pay.
If anyone is thinking of signing up to this place, you will be better off signing up to other gyms. I already know Blink is gonna respond to this review just like the other ones with regards to the poor condition of this facility with "thank you for taking the time to leave a review for Blink Ozone Park! We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration as we continue to improve!"
All I can say is they will likely take another few months to fix one equipment at a time considering they send out one technician once in a blue moon. If they had some common sense they could easily close the gym for one week and service all the equipment's with the yearly...
Read moreIf you want to go to a good blink fitness franchise, please choose any gym other than this. This gym is consistently packed but barely has any good equipment. A good portion of their equipment tends to be broken a lot. And I don't understand why they try to cut corners when it's obviously the only gym people use in this neighborhood. They haven't had disinfected wipes for almost 2 years. They used to have a unlabeled spray that people would clean the equipment with. But now we're using grout and tile cleaner. And this makes me wonder; will I get a rash at some point? Does this even kill major viruses? (Meningitis, strep, Corona, even MRSA) This isn't even a disinfectant spray. Is their bottom line hurting this much that they need to cut corners like this. I begrudgingly come here occasionally because it's the closest gym from my job. But it isn't worth the cost and the effort to come here if you don't live walking distance. The staff is cool and they clean regularly. But even in spite of this the gym still is sometimes dirty or in disarray with weights everywhere. There was a point in time when I used a shower at the gym, but for a while there was insanely low water pressure and no hot water whatsoever. This gym is waaaaay too busy and waaaaay too packed to justify the way they basically try to skimp everything to save money. At least give us proper disinfectant wipes, It's been way too long for us to just be using spray bottles after almost 2 years if not more. Don't come here unless you have no...
