It's White Castle in Queens NY, adjust your expectations to that. I have visited other WCs in other states, most will take your order and make suggestions to save you money or add value for the amount you're spending. This location takes your order. I didn't go inside the store but from the outside I could see yellow caution tape so presumably they have taken some COVID-19 related precautions. I have visited this location several times before, there isn't a lot of space inside at the counter or for seating given the volume of people they serve. The staff are friendly enough; they take your order quickly enough but fulfilment seems slower than other WCs. I used the drive-thru twice in one visit; after discovering two items were missing from my order. The order kiosk is small, pay attention or it could be mistaken as an advertisement. The drive-thru lane is very tight, two turns are required to reach the service window. Drivers of large or long vehicles may want to consider going inside for service; there are lots of paint scrapes on the brick wall guardrail at the 2nd turn. The 1st turn has a lot of tire scrapes on the high curb, the minivan in front of me hit it and probably scraped their wheel/rim as well. If any vehicles are behind you at the kiosk you are pretty much blocked in by walls going forward; claustrophobic types won't like it. When retrieving the missing items I was told the minivan ordered an 18-pack and I could come into the store for faster service but with two cars close behind me I could not. My total time in the drive-thru on this one visit was about 25-35 minutes. Overall, service is good, no issues with food quality, but White Castle isn't cheap eats anymore; $30 spent for 3 people. I suppose that is comparable...
Read moreThis review is LONG overdue. I've been to this location as far back as the mid 90's when my parents moved from Brooklyn to Queens so this White Castle is a long standing fixture of my growing up around the Ozone Park area of Queens and I can't recall any bad service or awful food transaction here. Today is also no different.
My usual staple meal here is 2 chicken w/ cheese sandwiches, a double bacon and cheese slider, and mozzarella sticks. I just needed an excuse to place a review on here and the supposed new crispy chicken sandwiches provided that opportunity. I like the texture of those sandwiches more now than the previous variation of them because the crisp texture on the chicken sliders make for a nice, crunchy bite. I had an enjoyable brunch and the service is always spot on.
I've gotten used to the layout of the place now. Before they renovated this White Castle during Covid, the seating area was a bit larger than it is now but it's since been renovated so that there is more room for the employees to work around their station. Despite the reduced size in the customer seating area, it's minimal at most.
A solid area that has stood the test of time in a rapidly changing...
Read moreMy companion and I were warmly greeted by the cashier upon approaching the counter. I must admit that I was slightly overwhelmed by the many menu options hovering above my head. The photo of their brisket sandwiches (sliders?) sealed the deal. I substituted fried pickles for the french fries. The server warned me there might be a slight upcharge, which I didn’t mind.
My companion ordered two fish burgers and two veggie burgers. Unfortunately they didn’t have the Impossible burger in stock.
The wait for our food wasn’t too long, although the veggie burgers didn’t arrive until nearly ten minutes after we received everything else (not sure why, but the cashier was apologetic).
We weren’t given ketchup and I didn’t see any at the napkin counter. I guess you have to ask for it.
The food was tasty and the service was pleasant. Everything came to about $13, which isn’t too bad. They do have more reasonably priced...
