I am at the crossroads of deciding whether I will keep my 1998 Nissan Maxima and so it is time for me to share a few words on my (and my Maxima's) relationship with Bryan and his auto shop. If your car needs a mechanic - I wouldn't hesitate and highly recommend Bryan's auto shop.
Should I decide to chuck my car (that Bryan had the pleasure of dealing with for about 4 or 5 years now), I will definitely miss the reliability Bryan and his staff offered me in the process of maintaing the car that was so much more to me than just a vehicle. And yes, there were fun times, as well.
Bryan was always very honest about the state of the car (I think he was surprised to have dealt with it as long as he has - we thought the car was on its death bed about the time I started coming for his expertise) and how perhaps it was time for me to look at another vehicle. Since I was quite attached to it and enjoyed the 6 cylinder power (while a limited income), Bryan worked with me and my Maxima and always gave me the facts - kind of cold, or straight and matter of fact kind of way (for my style at least). But I needed someone to pour a proverbial bucket of cold water over my face to know what I'm dealing with (and to be smart about it).
Bryan always presented me with options I had and oftentimes, I would go home and think about it for a while. And when I decided to do the repairs Bryan suggested, he made sure that the car was fixed and safe for me to drive. Safety and reliability - that was important to us both.
Most of the times, when Bryan gave me a financial range to fix whatever was ailing my car, I always budgeted on the higher end. Surprisingly, it would always end up being less than, or right on the dot, of his initial quote. And yes, he was honest and wanted me to understand that because my car was what it was, there may be other things that could go while they're doing the repair. I can't stress, the way and the amount of times he said that to me so that it would sink in, I'd understand (the financial repercussions) and that I wouldn't be surprised, just in case. So, I was prepared.
Still, the decision was mine to make, even if the car was in the midst of repairs and I didn't want to have something fixed (unless it was really crucial). I never felt that something could "go wrong" with the car just because I chose against some repairs.
I haven't had a mechanic in a long time, that didn't want to milk me for the money. The first time I went (reluctantly) to Bryan's shop, I wasn't sure that the same wouldn't be the case with him, as well. But soon after, Bryan knew what was important to me and I was at ease that I could rely on him, his advice and the work in his shop. And let me not forget to mention and thank his staff. It didn't just feel like an auto shop but a nice experience overall.
Like everything else that is a matter of work, mutual collaboration/communication, honesty and getting used to (styles, etc), so is a relationship with a mechanic and his shop and may take some time. I was kind of stuck with Bryan's shop. I was just tired of being jerked around by liars and less than professional "mechanics" before I landed here and decided to stay. And I'm happy I did and never paid for something I didn't need to have done.
If you're looking to make your car feel better, go check it out. I still haven't decided on whether I will keep my car - it may just be too much money for me to invest in. But then again, Bryan gave me the facts (and his good people helped me and added some additional tidbits to make my decision making easier). Now, I have to decide on whether to part with my Maxima. If I don't however, Bryan's shop will continue fixing...
Read moreBryan's Auto has been my mechanic coming up on 2 years now and its time for a reveiw! I have had such a great experience Im not sure where to begin. I have a 2000 BMW 3series that I purchased as a certified Pre-Owned from BMW. As soon as it went off warranty it started having issues. I foolishly kept going to BMW for service and everytime- THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS -and maybe it would be fixed. I was about to sell my car as it was getting too expensive to maintain at BMW and a Neighbor suggested I call Bryan. So I did, BEST DECISION I ever made for my car and my wallet. Right before Hurricane Sandy hit my BMW had its check engine light on and I could not pass inspection even though I had paid BMW thousands of dollars to try and fix it. Fed up I called Bryan for the first time and he took me right in and told me the step by step process they would use to isolate and fix the problem. With the Hurricane on the way, I took my car back. After the hurricane with the neighborhood demolished Bryan still got my car back and fixed it right and fast. There are very few Auto Mechanics left around these days with the high character and reliability that Bryan and his workers have. If anyone has any questions or concerns about trusting your car with Bryan.... just go and hear what he has to tell you. You can not go wrong with...
Read moreBryan's Auto deserves more than the stars google allows. The exhaust on my Rambo, a 2007 Kia, needed immediate repair after it started sounding like a lawn mower. I contacted Bryan's Auto after a google search and got a reply soon thereafter to bring it in. I limped Rambo to Bryan's and was immediately met with caring staff. I mean EXTREMELY caring. I pulled in to the drive way and was met by a mechanic who asked me about Rambo and listened to how Rambo cried. "We got you," he told me. After I parked Rambo I went to the clerk's station and was again met with EXTREMELY friendly staff. They listened to what was wrong with the car and respected my request to only fix my exhaust issues. But here is where things get better ... After I left Rambo in Bryan's care I recieved a call from the mechanic working on Rambo who told me the car would be fixed in a few hours and that it would cost me 5/8ths less than it would've cost me had I went to the guys who start with "P." Car done I got the call to come pick it up, paid the EXTREMELY LOW price (I'm serious about this) and walked to Rambo. I got it, turned the ignition, and viola .... Rambo purred for me in that adoring way new cars do for their new owners. Needless to say I will be going back to Bryan Auto's for the rest of Rambo's needs. See you soon...
