Children's Center — Attraction in New York

The library itself is nice with ample space and lots of books for children. However, my experience with one particular staff was quite negative:

We brought my son to the children’s center for the first time yesterday. We were doing our own things separately. While I was very quiet in the children’s center waiting for my son, one White female staff around 50 years old in white sweater out of nowhere approached me with a normal volume that everyone around me could hear clearly, and told me to put my cellphone volume down. I don’t know how she got all the idea that I played any videos on my phone while I was in the library, because I was just browsing some posts on my phone, yet she heard something that neither I or anybody around me heard at all and seemed to be “friendly and doing her job” by asking me to put volume down. I was quite confused in the beginning and then told her that I didn’t play any videos at all. She said “Oh, I thought I heard something from there. Maybe it was not you.” I think either she was illusional in hearing me play any video or she is a racist because I am an Asian. I got quite offended by her quick judging and insincere apology. She left. Being very upset by what she said, I left with my family in a few minutes and the person was nowhere to be seen. I have no idea who she was, but this staff in the library definitely is not welcoming or friendly and...

When I first walked in I got me and my children new library cards! The person that assisted me was super helpful and nice. After, I went to the children’s section and a librarian (super helpful and nice as well) assisted me with finding books for my son and even provided me with a bag for our books. The seating area for the children need more space or maybe it was due to the event they had going on but overall excellent customer service and my preferred library of choice...

Great place and love their storytime! A few staff members could be nicer to parents and the children. The white tall staff member and the darker short gentleman were mean to the children. Please don't work at the library if you HATE children. Children love to run and enjoy the space. We can't stop children from having a good time. We don't have yards here in NYC and it's not...
