I went here with my parents to find a new ski jacket and I finally found one that I liked and fit good. When looking for the name and price we realized there wasn’t a tag on. We went to one of the north face workers and he checked a few places in the store to find a similar one but he couldn’t so he gave up. He told us if we wanted to find the name and price wait in the long checkout line. We then asked the checkout workers and they quickly pushed us away saying it was another product but it wasn’t due to the different pockets. I tried looking online but couldn’t find it with little information on this jacket. I shouldn’t have to try to find the product myself online, they don’t care about customer service and helping! We asked another North Face worker for help and again they said it was another name but it wasn’t due to the pockets not being in the same place again … he then looked again and said he thought it $500 jacket but would check downstairs however he said it in a way that he assumed we couldn’t afford it or wouldn’t want it due to the price. I never felt so belittled, disrespected and frustrated in a store. We never saw that employee again or jacket. After waiting a long time we were sick of waiting and lifted very disappointed and unsatisfied. You would think employees would know their products and actually would like to help people since it is probably in their job description. Go to a different store if you like being treated well...
Read moreI've worn North Face coats since the 90s and have given away countless numbers. Recently, I bought two coats in different sizes within two days. I went to the 5th Ave location in NYC to return the larger size, but the manager asked me to line up where no line existed. Despite that, I complied and waited.
Within minutes, a man approached the counter to buy a coat he had already worn outside, and the salesperson asked him only one question: whether he had already worn the coat. Meanwhile, I was returning one coat while wearing the other one, and the salesperson asked me an excessive number of questions:
I had to hand my cell phone to the salesperson to verify my email and receipt. Hygienically, that's an issue. The manager suddenly appeared and held a store phone without communicating with anyone on the other side while watching my transaction. I was asked to show my credit card and verify if it was active. I had the original packaging with my name on it, and I even provided my cellphone number, but the manager continued to hover and question the validity of my card.
I felt like the manager, who happened to be a black woman just like me, was profiling me. She projected an attitude of lack onto me as if I was trying to steal something. It wasn't like I was returning diamonds. I hope she broadens her...
Read moreI came here on a Monday around noon.
This store is 2 floors, spacious, and well lit. The first floor is smaller and has some menswear and shoes. The 2nd floor has more menswear, womenswear, and camping gear.
I was looking for the Junior Winter Sneaker in black for myself. They’re kids snow sneakers. Waterproof and insulated. I’ve been looking for an extra warm pair of shoes for the NYC winters. If I spend more than 10 minutes in below 40 degrees, my toes freeze off. Winter boots can be really heavy, and I wanted the lightweight feel and bendy sole of a sneaker. These North Face Junior Winter Sneakers seemed perfect. On their website, it said they had a pair in my preferred color and size in stock in this store, but the shoe guy couldn’t find them. He said they were probably on a mannequin or something.
I tried on another pair of shoes just to confirm my size, and I will probably buy these online.
I was also looking for the Women’s 1996 Retro Nuptse Jacket or Women’s Nuptse Duster, especially in the Metallic Copper color, because it’s dope.
They had one Nuptse Duster in an XL (which doesn’t work for me), and I couldn’t find any of the 1996 Retro Nuptse Jackets (cropped version) in that color.
Anywho, a nice store to look at products, try on some coats and other winter...
