G & G Italian Meat Market — Attraction in New York

On the afternoon of Wednesday February 3rd around 3:30 pm, I went to purchase some meat products from the local meat market. I have been to this meat market many times in the past and have never had a poor experience. However, today will be the reason why I never return.

When I asked the service representative to provide me 3 pounds of quality short ribs, I was told that I could not select the quality cuts that I wanted. I was told that I could only select pieces that were further from me in the display. These cuts were closer to the employees, smaller in size and older in color. In the past, I have always been able to choose the cuts of meat that I wanted and the cuts that I wanted today were towards the front of the display, closer to me, larger in size and fresher in color. When I explained to the gentleman that I had been able to choose my preferred cuts of meat in the past, he only explained that I could no longer do this but failed to elaborate as to why, even though all of the meat products sold are at a fixed price. My assumption as to why I could not choose the quality I wanted, is because they were attempting to sell their old meat cuts first.

I should be able to choose the quality cuts of meat that I wanted, as I have been able to do so in the past. Whether I purchased the pieces from the front or back of the display should be my choice because again all the meat is sold at a fixed rate. Therefore, regardless of where I choose the meat from, this establishment would still have been compensated equally. The crux of my complaint is that as a paying customer, it should be my choice as to the quality of meat I choose to purchase, not the quality of meat they deem to serve me. If I could give this place a negative star rating I would! It's bad enough that the service is horrible and that they literally make you feel that they just want your money but they also have the places smelling of cigarettes/tobacco! My suspicion was confirmed when I saw them recieving a meat delivery and one of the butchers was smoking in the freezer/cooler were they store the meat!

I don't know about everyone else but I find that absolutely disgusting and it probably violates USDA health and safety protocols.

The meats are great. However, I cannot speak well about the service displayed. Lately, there's a hint of arrogance and fooling around among co-workers. Too much sarcasm while displaying their "customer service". Customers should be able to select there choice of meat selection, without any restriction.
