I lost my QR code for reviews from the May 16, 2025 8pm show (sorry other PJ). I was in Manhattan for my kidās graduation and ended up on my own one night- Iād had a good experience at another stand-up place in Brooklyn last year, so I decided to see what Comedy Village had going on. (8pm is like the perfect casual tourist time. You get to eat dinner without stress, but you get to make it back to your hotel before all the drunks start heckling and the devil finds you on the subway š)
For non-New Yorkers, such as I; it was a brisk 20 min walk from the hotel in 36th street, through Times Square and down through a nice little neighborhood. I got dinner at a taco place a little further down the street before the show (donāt eat in Times Square, there are so many better options just a couple blocks away) . Thereās not an extensive menu at Comedy Village, so eat before you comeā great snacks and drinks though. Thereās an entry fee (tickets were under $30/person this is wicked cheap by nyc standards) and a two drink minimum; but literally almost every comedian and hostess made me laugh; they were all established talents with either a competition or some screen time.
Stand-up is not my favorite genre, so when I tell you I had a good night⦠I mean- YOU should check this out. ESPECIALLY if you are looking for a space NEAR Times Square that doesnāt feel massively overwhelming to spend an evening. As they say on the website⦠you never know who will pop in. We had like an 8 comedian line up for my 8-10pm slot.
Of course check out ALL the Comedy Village locations, though especially the newer midtown location.
(Iām not getting paid for this review⦠but I should, cuz otherwise what is my comm degree...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been to plenty of comedy clubs across the U.S. and internationally, and honestly? Comedy Village really delivered. I went on a Monday nightāletās be real, thatās usually not prime time for anythingāand yet every single comic brought their A-game. Eight comedians, no duds. Not one moment where I was politely smiling while checking the time. It felt like they somehow curated a lineup where every act had something fresh, sharp, and genuinely funny to offer.
The show had great balance tooāhalf women, half menāand you could tell everyone was doing their own thing, not recycling the same old material. It was smart, well-paced, and just a fantastic mix of styles and voices.
Now, yeah, thereās a drink minimum, and the drinks arenāt cheap. But cāmon, itās New Yorkāyouāre really paying for the seat and the experience. And for what itās worth, my cocktail was both delicious and strong, so no complaints there.
Bottom line: If youāre in the theater district and want a guaranteed solid night out, Comedy Village is absolutely worth it. Great talent, great vibe, great value. Iād go back in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to one of the Broadway Monday Music shows and was the only guest. Even though I was sitting there as a random European tourist, which must have looked pretty awkward, the young people gave their very best and delivered a diverse set of musical numbers and old folk-rock songs. Isn't that what real show business is all about: performing in front of a single old, creepy European man, still having fun in the heart of entertainment in New York City? I hope the artists and their event series will be discovered by more people; it's definitely a nice hidden gem. The service in the Comedy Village was excellent, and the staff incredibly friendly. It wasn't...
