The supermarket itself isn’t so bad, a bit pricey compared to other key foods. Problem here is THE MANAGEMENT. Latino guy always standing in front of the cashiers supposed to be in charge of the store has no manners. He once approached me for not wearing a mask when it was not mandatory anymore in NY. but yet HE NEVER had hand sanitizer available for customers as we walk out the store. He says machine is broken but this has been broken since 2021. As a business manager I know the protocols and when he approached me I mentioned the COVID guidelines he is supposed to follow and the COVID emergency plan he has to have displayed like all other supermarkets, but all he said was have a nice day and walked away. Very unprofessional. Also The line gets long at times and he never wants to open up more than one cashier, if he is short in staff as a manager he should step up and help his workers with the long lines. Always satisfy the customer, something he’s not familiar with.

The Store knows the watermelon displayed in front of the window is turning bad, I can't believe they are still selling them to this community. I was in the rush and got one on Sunday afternoon. when I went home and cut the watermelon in the half. what a surprise!  It is super stinky.  So I decided to bring the whole watermelon back to the store right away. The staff are all there, You know what, No one is able to help. No manager is here.  I put half of the watermelon on the counter and talked to the cashier lady.  And I ask her please smell this.  She said there is a sign on the boxes" no return and no exchange ". So I went out of the store to check.  30 seconds later when I got back inside of the store.  Wow, the watermelon left on the counter is gone!  I asked that lady where is my watermelon. She said she doesn't know what I'm talking about"  what a joke!  That is how this Key food run the business here.  Just don't get anything here.

I bought a few things from their store two days ago. The first issue I had was with the meat I bought. I bought two cuts of porter house steak and cooked it the following day and it was extremely chewy and rubbery. I didn't think much of it and was just disappointed with the quality and thought, okay I'll just avoid the meat from keyfoods. The bananas I bought looked fine, but I saw yesterday that there was one banana with a dark mold spot under one of the bananas, I didn't see this when I purchase it as they are in bags. Again, disappointed but, lesson learned avoid the produce.. Finally, I opened a yogurt today that I bought from keyfoods on the same trip two days ago and removed the foil from one of the yogurts and mold was growing on the top... this is clearly showing me that there is an overall lack of quality at keyfoods. Update. Today is August 11, 2022 and I walked in and found items for sale that expired July 21, 2022.

Very bad management and customer service. I’ve called several times to speak with someone in the meat section to order special cuts of meat. Get placed on hold for 10 minutes at a time, and then get hung up on.

Further, the front gate is locked, so that I have to get someone to open it so that I can shop with my baby stroller. Do they have anyone available to open it so that I can give them my business? Absolutely not! I tap on the window and have to shout into the store for them to finally open it.

When I call the manager to voice my concerns, his response was, “That’s he said/she said”, I need to see who you are.

So, you are not interested in real customer service, you just want to play-act that you are a manager. Then was told that I should speak the language of the workers there (which is spanish). So my question to you is, “What does that have to do with being hung up on the phone, or opening the gate”? You are saying that your employees are too dumb to figure out that I’m tapping on the window to patronize YOUR store, and help keep you in business? Or, if they answer the phone, they do not know how to pronounce Key Food and put someone else on the phone?

This establishment and management is a poor excuse for a “supermarket”. The manager never heard of the phrase, “the customer is always right”. So, please avoid this toxic market...
